I'm going to have a closer look, but it appears that the pinch weld is the least risky jacking point in front (when jacking one side at at time) and is the only place recommended by GM. The rear is easy since the crossmember behind the diff can be used.

The LT models have it easier up front, since they don't have the aluminum sheer panel and the front crossmember is accessible.
I've used the rear crossmember each time but haven't tried the front... No issue with the jack 'handle' clearing the car's nose?

Here are some up close pics of the jack pucks I made. Nothing fancy, just used common hand tools to construct (cordless drill, hacksaw, razor blade).
You can see the taper I cut for the pinch seam itself, this allows it to stay suspended while you position the jack. The seam was tall enough that I had to basically cut all the way through the puck to fully support it. This required the second puck for obvious reasons, the added bonus of giving the jack 'cup' some added clearance to the rocker.

They were a little rushed and could be nicer, but hey, they've worked beautifully so far... and cheap as dirt
