It's amazing the type of useless threads on forums . So what the car don't have a handle for your wife to grab onto . Don't bring her in the car . Use your family car when you wanna ride with her .

Pretty common in newer cars to have side airbags.

I'm sure this is the main reason why. Safety.

that's exactly what my wife always grabs on to... I put one of those seat belt soft velcro pad thngy's on it, so its nice'n'soft to grab.. you don't need much more.

Back in the day when nobody ever wore seatbelts if you were coming to a hard stop, etc. it was courteous for the driver to throw out the arm belt. You know the one where your mom or dad would swing their arm out over the passenger seat and act like a virtual seat belt.

Kidding aside, I think what you will find is that the seat bolsters plus seat belt will do a pretty good job on their own. I suggest a couple 1g turns during a test drive to find out if this is a real issue.

You may be used to cars that have little to no seat bolsters and a higher center of gravity. For example, if I pull just a .25g turn in my minivan I can get everyone sliding all over the place in those large slippery leather bench like seats. This doesn't really happen in the Camaro unless you start pulling some Dukes of Hazzard jumps.

I have never been in the passenger seat I find the seats hold really well. Even though I am holding the steering wheel with two hands I remember back in my 74 pushing corners would throw me against the door side panel. The 16 even at .8 the seat keeps me firmly planted.

Is this guy for real. Leave her at home or get one for her to drive.

This is far from a serious problem.

FWIW, my wife noticed the very same thing on the 1st family drive with the car over this past weekend. She keeps the seat pushed pretty far forward so there isnt much to be hold on to. I will admit that this was a slightly, and I mean slightly, spirited drive. She was motivated to grab for a non-existent handle more by the sound of what seemed like aggressive driving than actually aggressive driving. But I would echo the OPs comment that this is an ergonomic miss. Is it the end of the world, no. But it is something that I suspect GM will address, perhaps, in the mid cycle refresh.

I agree with the post about how dumb this tread is. You want to add an aftermarket strap, handle, bar to the inside of your new Camaro so your wife can hang on when you're racing around town? I hope the police stop you before you crash and burn with your lovely wife "handing on".

The OP said that because of this he would not buy the car...sounds kind of trollish to me.
