While I don't have any on video, yes Manual Transmissions can come apart / explode as well. The gear oil is much less likely to catch on fire than the ATF.

I don't believe anyone should have worries about road racing close to stock ZL1s.

We have experienced two cracked transmission cases in road race applications (fast tracks) one Tremec and one 10L90. This was due to aftermarket driveshaft harmonics.

He was dinged up a bit in the shoulder, but yeah very lucky. Rear end of the trans exploded and drive shaft remained in place.
