If ya can get approx 5 gallon cans, 3 of them should fit nice and tight across the inside of a trunk. No wobbling and no spill worries.
I always carry 3 cans in this way even if only 1 or 2 are full.
Given your even is remote i would bring 3 cans for about 15 gallons in total. It is better to bring some back vs run out, or waste time looking for a gas station.
Cheers!

Gonna trailer the car there, so I can put the extra gas in the bed of my truck. Man putting 15gallons of gas in the trunk seems a bit risky to me, I appreciate the advice that it fits but the smell alone would be reason not to do that I think, let alone if someone hit me in the rear on the way there, bad day turns even worse. Have you done that in the past?

I'd agree, this is less than ideal and if you trailer this issue goes away. Virtually all folks that drive to/from bring gas, mainly out of necessity (and convenience), as not all tracks offer gas, or have high octane stations nearby. Obviously, i didnt do it when i trailered my track car, but have always done it when not - like with the Camaros.

Having said that, i fill up the cans at the last high octane station closest to a track to minimize distance traveled with full cans. And i am pedantic when filling them in, so avoid any smell issues per se. Driving back, the cans are empty and well aired.

Cheers!
