Passing people is about driving correctly, not just having a more powerful car. I pass people just fine in my 155hp Miata.

The reason you don't feel the instant acceleration when cruising in auto mode is because the trans takes time to downshift from whatever gear you're cruisin in. Now, if you knew how to drive the car, you'd know the correct gear to light the tires with from a roll.....time for you to experiment a little bit!

Even when stock, this car just wants to go. On the freeway, to pass cars..as soon as you press the go pedal, the trans just starts downshifting for you. it wants to go..and go fast.

Yes I know, I recently learned about that, but how well does the A10 SS or A10 ZL1 downshift when flooring it, is it more immediate/quicker than the A8’s?

I dont know from personal experience. But, I would assume its relatively the same. Unless you tune the trans of course....

Regarding the 455lbs torque

I’ve heard some claims stating that the ZL1’s A10 is faster/quicker than Porsche’s PDK
Also don’t remember the user from here, but stated that the ZL1’s A10 is the fastest transmission in the world.

My friend, you have one of the most powerful cars for <$40K. You won't shoot off like that GTR, it's 3X the price, AWD and have 1 full second quicker 0-60 time.

Having said that, if you just want something that feels super fast at any speed just get a tesla. The torque curve on them is higher than any factory gasoline engine, but prepare to lose the sound =-).

Honestly, just keep practicing driving the car. Some dudes on here have been sort of short with you, but I would agree with some that you should stay in automatic mode for a while. Watch what the car does when you punch it from different speeds, etc. and you'll learn when it's the right time to shift to which gears.

It's different for every car, even in a manual an experienced driver needs to learn the car and understand the maximum speeds of each gear so as to know which gear to properly select based on speed and situation.

Regarding the ZL1, it's not the transmission, it's the supercharger that makes it so much faster. If you want more speed, you gotta put more into the car.

IMHO, this is plenty of car for even the experienced driver, spend time learning to go faster with what you have (drivermod).

The car is quick and fast, idk if I’m just not utilizing its potential and low end torque power properly, I am in lowest gear at 3-4K RPM, I floor it, and it doesn’t feel like it’s actually as quick as I think it should be.

The only other thing I can think of is your not putting it in competitive mode.

Hmm, I want to go outside right now and take a couple of practice pulls, but I’m afraid because I gotta hold my phone to record and drive aggressively with one hand. Hence me not being that good yet.
Also, I haven’t been using that either because I think it removes traction, and I absolutely don’t wanna do that in a high torque car, especially with my inexperience. All I really wanna do is practice and get better at accelerating, I would use “ how long it takes to pass other cars” as a test, but I’m not ready for that yet.

So if you're gunning it in first at 3-4k, TC is gonna kick on and cut your power.

Trade it for a stick. Then you tell the transmission what to do!
