By “statement” do you mean “failed miserably to match advertised marketing hype?”

No I wasn't trying to single anyone out, but there seems to be a consensus here from a majority that the Hellcat(all variations Demon included) is only good in a straight line and there fore not on same level as the ZL1

The "Demon", come on lol, the car is an absolute joke. The entire Challenger thing is what like 20 years old using discontinued and left over Mercedes chassis with tech that's from the last decade. The only thing they did was drop an extremely powerful engine into a boat. (Very few other high tech details, like the trans, and that's it). Sure it's how muscle cars used to be, but does anyone REALLY care about how they used to be when every other muscle car is better at anything other than the strip? And speaking of the strip, it's a 10.3-11.3 second car. And calculators would agree with that. The magic they must have used to get that bitch to run a 9.65 was something to behold because 840 HP @ 4400 pounds isn't even CLOSE to running 9s. In fact, that's mid-high 10s worthy. https://robrobinette.com/et.htm

And IMO that's why you haven't really heard shit about the car since the initial hype and release (I know nobody has really gotten them yet) but the early testing from magazines sure did shut up the fanboys fast IMO. I haven't heard anyone throw the "Demon" around in a while and for good reason. I've got my money on the ZL1 drag pack, and it will leave the Demon for dead when driven by actual owners vs owners.

Yeah Dodge had just about perfect conditions on the 9.65 pass. No denying that.

Those calculators aren't that accurate. I just punched in the info for when my pops had a 66 Nova drag car, based on that he should have only been mid 11's based on power and weight but that car was 10.70s all day

Cars that are purpose built for the strip (Well beyond the Demon's few mods, I'm talking drag transmissions, suspensions, slicks/skinnys and aero etc.) are going to be faster than the calculators. But yes nothing is more accurate than actually going out and pounding the pavement but looks like some magazines have done it for us and it seems to line right up with what the calculator says (10.6-10.7ish).

Well also by that calculator then it said my 07 Mustang should have been a 14.2 car when it was a 13.6 car lol

From when they had journalists testing them at Atco
the journalists need a few drag racing lessons!

Well shit, the calculator puts 808 @ 4400 pounds at a 10.7. Let's take the difference between what you're saying and give it a 10.2. Still way slower than 9s and certainly a 9.65 LOL.

http://www.wallaceracing.com/et-hp-mph.php This calculator puts it at 10.3ish.

Actual testing has results in low 11s and high 10s.

I was just joking with ya on the calculator stuff. Ive seen way too many times on forums where people take them like its the word of god lol.

The Hellcat really is terrible at cornering. But God Damn this thing is a freak of nature in a straight line!! Honestly, I enjoy driving it just as much as my ZL1!!

Seems like a lot of Z owners are getting a little defensive in their comments, makes their real thoughts very clear lol.

The Demon is bad ass, 850hp, wheelie stock, and 0-60 times of a super/hypercar. It makes a huge statement, seeing that thing on the street would be insane.

I have no plans on trading in the Z, but I am considering a demon next year, or possibly waiting for the ZR1!

put street tires on the demon and it can go 200mph+.

Where are you going to be doing 168mph+ anyways?

While I do agree you'll get a biased view here, and the other way if you were on a Hellcat/Demon/Dodge forum, you have to admit that the wheelies and 2.3 second 0-60 is all BS and will never be achieved by anyone other than Dodge...Neither will the 9.65 1/4 mile.
