I'm also not speaking of the basic Hellcats in Challenger and Charger variety. I'm talking about the drag race specific Demon.

They also turned the boost way up and while I'm sure that's all fine and good on a 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2 mi... I'd be curious to see someone road racing a Demon, with that and their cooling systems and see how it handles the heat it's going to generate.. Pretty sure the rotors and pads will not like stopping the car over and over and over and I don't see mention of proper ventilation going to the wheel wells to help with heat. In fact, they've noted they even stepped down the brakes on the car from the HC models.

Also, there's a different converter in the car allowing for more slip and different lock up... all of this will require checking on or working on to handle 20m at a time on a road course stressing parts meant for 9s bursts.
I stand corrected

Whether street racing, 1/4 mile, track or a combo of all, the big 3 keep coming...

The thing I see is that Dodge with the hellcat and now the demon has made Ford/Chevy continue upping the ante for which is a win, win, win for all us motor and performance addicted junkies. And since I own both a SRT and ZL1 I am a very happy junkie!

Are you sure you "love" your ZL1?

Wait til the new ZR1 road stomps it into oblivion lol. I am in love with my ZL1, but given the money, I would have my ZL1, a Demon and a ZR1 and no license lol.

Why do people act like Dodge " started " this modern day hp thing? If anything Ford hands down led the way imo for the last couple of years with the 500. Dodge just joined in and needs more with the weight it has. Nice rides by the way congrats.

Watch any of the actual tests on YouTube. Absolutely nobody hits 9's. There are some high 10's and 11's, but I'm yet to see 9's. This is all the early journalist drives, of course. Dodge is good at hyping these cars. Thats what this is all about. I think it will be a rarity for a Demon to run the advertised time. Dodge put a lot of work into achieving that 9.65 run. They waited for very specific conditions and had an actual "track prep specialist" on hand to help. Cool car, but if every owner thinks they'll easily run 9's, Dodge may have some explaining to do.

Meh. I’d rather run constantly on a road course for up to 2 minutes vs 10-11 sec at a time.

The Demon looks to be an amazing vehicle for sure. It's like they took an already awesome vehicle (the Hellcat), decided it wasn't awesome enough, and then made it even more awesomer! I saw it is a one year production only vehicle. But I hope that it becomes such a hit that they either extend it longer or put the Demon engine in the future Hellcats!! I love what Dodge is doing with these cars and I hope they continue. There certainly is a huge market for these and Dodge is hitting it! And now that Chevy has the 755 hp ZR1 on the way I think we'll see some really good comparisons. Of course both cars are about as similar as a pepperoni pizza is to a garden salad. But it'll be nice to see how they stack up.

I for one am considering both of these cars for my next vehicle depending on what they go for around this time next year! And I wanna hold out to see if Ford unleashes a GT500...I doubt it tho. Either way it looks like Chevy and Dodge both are not playing games.

I'm not saying dodge started the Hp war (not sure what Hp Ford had in the Gt500 in march of 2006 that was when the 1st SRT hit the street as a charger @425hrsp, I know I had one of the 1st delivered in NY).

Dodge is consistently notching up their part of the battle for which cannot be denied. I do not see much if any cannon fire from Ford lately....

Like dodge or not I think its a great thing and is my point I am trying to make with my main post!

I think the modern GT500 first showed up for 2017 model year. It was 550 hp. Before that the GTO had 400 hp and the Z06 around that time had 405 hp. I don't think any manufacturer can be accredited with being the pioneer of this whole mega HP movement. They all have been steadily increasing their numbers over the years based on many different variables. These days 600+ is the magic number. In a few years it'll be higher and the manufacturers will have new technology to give us what we want.

Dodge has come a long way. The Hellcat certainly hit the jackpot. Even after being around all this time the HC gets soo much attention. The excitement people get when they see one says it all. Ford has been in limp mode for the past few years. I think they were really banking on the GT350 and then the HC showed up with 707 hp and took their steam. Then the Z06 and ZL1 showed up and took even more. Then the issues that plagued them all but put them in a coffin. Ford is far behind right now and they really need the GT500 to show up and be a hit and they need it soon.

07 GT500 was 500 HP, then in 2010 it went up to 540 and in 11 and 12 it was 550 I believe. 13/14 was the 662HP Trinity Cars.

People here can call the hellcat a one trick pony but you hit the nail on the head. People see that Hellcat badge on a Challenger and it turns heads. People are drawn to it.

Unsure if that one trick includes me, but I specifically pointed out I was referring to the Demon only. Not Hellcats in general.
