I've had the car for exactly 3 weeks. I've done my best to break it in properly and it looks like I may have done something right. Just like my 5th gen, the only mods I would consider at this time would be a RotoFab intake. I no longer have a desire to modify cars. Also, like my 5th gen, my goals are to get the quickest stock times possible before doing anything to the car.

The 1209 was a misprint, lol. I was actually trying to say 1200. I'll try to get the video posted at quickly as possible, I had 3 friends there all doing videos.

Ok I'm a bit bored with some time on my hands soooo….
This is a head scratcher for me. I've seen quite a few 17 ZL1 time slips now and they typically have a fairly high trap speed for their ET. Now drag racing 101 says the 60ft is key for ET and it's fairly obvious this cars 60ft issues are killing that aspect. On the other hand higher HP normally means higher trap speeds and some wheel spin can also increase trap speed. All that being said I still have a hard time figuring some things looking at the time slips and particularly this one. I looked at a time slip I have where I ran a 10.74 and here are the numbers side by side. 660'.....1.749……1.616 330'…4.854………4.526 (.328 delta) 1/8……7.346……..6.928 (.418 delta) Mph….97.74…….101.58 (3.84 mph delta) 1k........9.454……Track does not record 1/4....11.227 @130.42……..10.740@128.46 (.487 delta and 1.96 delta in mph for 5.8 mph gain) From the 1/8 to the 1/4 the ZL1 makes up 6mph? Is there a strong tail wind? The HP numbers and the results of now many roll races seem to indicate the Hellcat pulls on the Zl1 at the top end. Here we see, despite the nearly half second difference in ET that seems to be refuted? It seems illogical and I'm just trying to figure it out. The difference in 60fts is there but not a 1/2 seconds worth in overall ET difference. Is there some other factor I'm not considering? The time slips are real so what accounts for this? Anybody have an idea? Pure academic curiosity and late night boredom demand an answer.

First of all, great run bigdave!! Very good times! That 130.....holy $!#*!
762cat, you have a very good question. I thought.....well, you're definitely on a drag tire to get the cat to 60' that good and run the time you did, so maybe there's more rolling resistance versus the street tire on the Z. Maybe. Especially if you were running less air pressure than his 27 psi. The real head scratcher is, how do you gain 6 mph but still lose .07 seconds in the final 1/8 mile. It had me curious as well, but I think I can see the possibility. Whether it was rolling resistance, head wind, tail wind, better aero, or any combination of things that led to the higher gain in speed, the Z was stilling losing time as each car crosses the 1/8, evidenced by the higher trap speed by the cat. So the Z would've continued losing time until it matched the cats speed and then actually gained a little back once it started traveling faster, but simply lost too much time in the first part of the 1/8, to record a gain in ET. So it is possible, but the question now becomes, what led to the difference on the big end. Did you lose power for some reason? Did you have a head wind? Etc., etc.

Like I said before, I do question the mph also. I think the mph should've been around 127 or 128. On my first pass, the car ran 11.46 @ 123. I thought the car should've picked up more mph after the 1/8th so I decided to change lanes. On that first pass, I got wheel spin and it felt like the computer shut everything down. The car never seemed to pull hard at all after that. I was actually shocked it ran that quick on that pass, it honestly felt like a 12 second pass.
On the second pass it was very clear to me, and everyone else who watched it, that it was a totally different car. I stuck the launch and the acceleration was fierce. I don't know exactly what they have programmed into this car, but I think that because I was able to find a way to launch in a manner that avoided torque management intervening, I had full power throughout the pass which netted this time. Like I said before, I think the mph is questionable, but I can't question the et. I think it'll be impossible for me to beat this time...it felt like the perfect pass. It doesn't mean I'm giving up though. ![]() My goal is, and always has been, to run the quickest possible times bone stock. The most I may do to this car would be to add a Rotofab in the future, but for now, I'll try to improve on the stock times. Guys, I have no doubt my times will be beat. My car is fully optioned, and I'm a heavyweight myself. There is no doubt in my mind now that the new ZL1 will run 11.0s completely stock! Bet on it!

I have no problem with the 11:22, as a few others have gotten similar times, but this 130+mph makes me question the run. I remember when the 5th Gen ZL1 were all running 11:90s to 12:30s and he runs a 11:50s, alot of questions came up then as well. Was the car 100% stock for this run, so no race fuel, no tuning, no cats removed, no weight reductions, or any other modifications? These days the meaning of "stock" seems to have very differant definitions to some.

The funny thing is that I was doubting the 1/4 mph, I'm beginning to think I should be questioning the 1/8th instead. Others have run faster 1/8 mph but don't have the et. Is it possible my 1/8th should've shown much higher mph?

I don't question the MPH at all. A time slip is a time slip. Could there be error….sure. But I've seen weird stuff before and the mph seems high here…just trying to figure out why for fun not to question the OP. His time is great and his MPH is great. All good things.
17CamaroZL1 may be on to something. As he pointed out to get the cat to 60ft like that I am on a 305/45R18 Mickey Thomson ET Street R. That day it was at around 17.5 PSI so it would provide more rolling resistance on the big end and that may be the difference I was not accounting for. The Camaro gets a little wheel spin on launch and then has less rolling resistance as he progresses down the track. As far as my run that day no noted loss of power with good DA and a very slight headwind of probably less than 3mph.
