thanks... it does say pedal at 93%... ok,
what is VSS?

not much detail there though... too bad the manual doesn't explain it.

VSS = Vehicle Speed Sensor

If VSS is over 31mph and gas pedal has been pressed more then 93%, it should activate. I believe it should work in any drive mode.

NLS seems slower to me because it bogs, I assume it is the traction controll kicking in.
yes, you will get major bog from first to second if Traction control is not turned off... the tires want to spin when you hit second, computer kicks in and cuts the power, your head lunges forward, and you feel like you messed up the shift.

I have an M6 and My motto is.... "spinning tires are either my INTENTION or my FAULT".. I don't want computer getting involved

With all the questions surrounding no lift shift I finally broke down and looked in the owners manual. NLS only works in "competition mode" so you have you have a SS. the LT 4turbo or 6LGX does not. and competition mode is not sport mode. guess I have to upgrade.

Finally some clarification, now I understand why last time when I was only in Sport mode the NLS didn't engage.

It works in every mode all the time in mine. Based on my experience I'd have to agree with the throttle percentage comments.

I was unable to find it in the manual. If you don't mind me asking, what page did you find it on?

However..........

It's not bouncing off the limiter like you guys think when you're using NLS.

Go drive your car in first gear and floor it to the limiter....it doesn't "bounce," it just kills the engine entirely.

If you were hitting the limiter while using NLS, your car would fall flat on it's face. Also, go try to use NLS and shift a little bit slower than normal...listen to the sound it makes....feel how smooth the shift is....if you did that while holding the gas pedal down on a car that does not have NLS, it would not go into the next gear smooth as butter. It would probably grind itself into the next gear.

However, I definitely don't think the NLS feature works before 6000 RPMs or so, despite what people say. If I stab the clutch at anything below 6000 RPMs, the RPMs definitely do jump up. But why would I ever NLS before then anyway?

Overall, it is a pretty cool feature. Smoked a Bentley Continental GT and Lexus ISF while using it the other day.
Should be able to smoke them without nls.

Despite it not being mentioned in the manual. I find NLS will still work in Sport mode but works BEST when you put it in Competition mode so that you don't introduce any bog.

If you are new to it and want to test it out. Try using it from 2nd to 3rd. It will be easier than 1st to 2nd. Just until you get the hang of it. Trust me it's the most unnatural feeling not lifting the throttle. Once you successfully get it down you'll love it and won't want to lift shift on WOT ever again.

When I first heard of it and tried it the first time. I didn't do something right and resulted in a pretty rough shift and I swore I would never use that again. However I'd find an on ramp or a stretch of open road and just give in to trying it again. About the 3rd or so try I finally got it and it is by far the absolute fastest way to shift this car. It almost sounds like the A8.. (I know not quite)..

Everytime he clutches you can hear and see the RPM's jumping to 6500.....

I agree with everything that you said. I tried it today and I messed up a few times, but when I got it right, it was pretty cool. The exhaust note does change when using it.
