Only thing I noticed, I usually don't use the paddles on my A8, when I hit the paddles to manual downshift (engine braking), while in Drive, after a complete stop it defaults back to full auto. I went to leave a stop sign and the paddles were non functional....

Paddle downshift, while in Drive, is just like active Rev match on the manual, with the throttle blips..... like it... sounds bad ass.......

Makes me curious how ether manual shift modes do under other driving settings (IE sport1, sport2, race) wonder if the response is the same? My thought would be the more aggressive the driving mode the more responsive the manual modes will be. Not sure I really want you to answer this or not, mine is still a week away from being built (fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!) Do want to find some things out for myself, LOL

Would love a POV video or something if possible. Showing both the manual shift speeds and also the auto shifting logic in performance shift mode. The A8 is pretty good, but i dont think it holds gears well enough on a back road, and I've heard/read that the A10 has that mastered.

Right. Hitting the paddles in drive gives you like a temporary manual mode. I think I remember reading somewhere about a 7 second timer, where it will revert back to drive if you don't hit a paddle again within 7 seconds. Haven't done any reading since I got the car except for the quick overview pamphlet or whatever it's called. That might be where I seen it.

And yes!! I love how it blips the throttle when you downshift enough to make the RPM jump up to around 3k. I'm sure you get even more of a blip if you made the RPM jump even higher.

I'm not sure why the pic loaded sideways. If a mod can spin it, I'd appreciate it, and sure many others would too.

More proof the A10 fuel mileage rating is . This trip was a mixture of city and highway. Mostly highway at 65 mph, up and down hills, mostly uphill, with a few hard accelerations along the way, and look at the average. The average was still climbing until I got back into city driving to finish up the trip.

Seems like it might even be better real world mileage than my edelbrock A8 with AFM -

Perhaps the 10 spd is actually doing something. Too bad they didn't put AFM on (must not be allowed because Z06 has it).

I actually like the feel of shifting that way, but it shifts slower. Like the paddles, the shift occurs after the shifter returns to its normal position. The paddles of course are back to their normal position very quickly since they don't move that far, where the shifter moves a pretty good distance. Both manual modes are fun to use, but it's fun in full auto as well. The speed at which it will drop mutiple gears and start accelerating is just mind boggling. Every auto I've ever driven always had quite a bit of lag when downshifting from top gear and actually accelerating....not this one!!
Thanks for the follow up on this. What I love about the A10 is the driver has so many options to have fun multiple ways. I am sure everyone will have their own preferences in the end. I think personally I will like the ability to downshift the most where you can hear and feel the 'pop/crackle' of the exhaust. I am sure you are still in break in mode so you havent been able to FULLY feel the power of the A10 yet. Thanks for the feedback so far.

It's another way for the government to scam us out of our hard earned money. Not only do the feds get money, but so does the state, since they apply sales tax to the GG tax.

You're welcome. I actually used the shifter quite a bit today instead of the paddles. I really enjoyed it and liked how it felt. For just tooling around like I was, I think I prefer that method of manual shift. If you want to be as fast as possible manually shifting, then the paddles are the better option. I too like the 3 different choices of driving that the A10 provides.

Yeah, I'm around 300 miles now, so I still have quite a way to go, but I have felt the power......many times. You're right, I can't fully enjoy the power yet as I haven't floored it, or revved it out, as I'm trying to stay below 4k like they recommend, but since peak torque is below the 4k mark, it can be felt, even without flooring it. Can't wait until I can drive it full bore and get it on a strip to see what kind of time it'll lay down!

Yeah. Those 3 overdrive gears really help the A10. Other than when I punched it a few times, it only dropped to 9th gear up some of those hills and pulled several in 10th. It was turning just under 1500 RPM at 65 mph in 10th and I think around 1900 in 9th. I started the trip off with an average of 15 mpg in the city after filling up, then crossed a small mountain. Then once I hit the highway, which has many hills to go up and down, and climbs more than it falls in the direction I headed, that average just kept climbing. It was still on its way up when hitting the 24, then dropped to the 23.4 in some uphill city driving on the way home.
