so it looks like the a a large lip velocity stack on the filter side, meaning it ain't gonna pop thru the shield and should have a nice flow tip-in via stack.

Are there flow channels in the MAF like the factory setup?

I'm not completely sure about that. I would need to take a look and see..

I think its a bit quicker based on my seat dyno. Tim will be tuning it in a few weeks so he may be able to elaborate a lot on it in regards to the maf sensor etc...

I will be calibrating the MAF transfer function to eliminate any error. I'll update this thread once I've had a chance to see the data.

Hard to see on my phone but does this intake delete the factory sound tube?

I have this intake and a xpipe and I got my car tuned today. This intake is just as good as a rotofab tbo!

Some people just like the added horsepower and don't care why it works. There's nothing wrong with that I suppose... to each his own.

If you care why, the short is, the MAF sensor is now miscalibrated and your engine is running leaner than before.

The MAF is now measuring less air than what's actually going into the engine (but it's probably flowing almost exactly the same as before). Now that the computer thinks there's less air, it's using less fuel. So less fuel with the same amount of air makes the car's AFR more lean than the factory intended.

Notice the jump in the charts you posted at around 4k RPMs. That's because the computer has fixed airflow models it blends with the MAF to estimate airflow. Because these models are unchanged, it helps offset the error with the MAF. However, above 4k the computer relies almost exclusively on the MAF. Since your MAF is now reading incorrectly, the AFR is now lean... and "leaner is meaner".

Over time the computer will use readings from the oxygen sensors to correct for the error of the MAF while running in closed loop... So most of the horsepower gain below 4k RPMs will eventually disappear.

The part that sucks is if you get the MAF tuned for the CAI, the horsepower is going to (mostly) disappear. You really will only benefit from a CAI if you need to flow a lot of air in a forced induction setup as the "cold" in the cold air intake isn't much of a factor anymore. The stock airbox does a pretty good job of getting fresh air.
And "CAÍ" is a misnomer, it's just an expensive alternative filter.

I think there would be a HUGE market for people that want to tweek the A/F but don't want to flash the ECU.

STD dyno's are misleading at best.

I can't agree or disagree with you since I don't have the baseline and afr's. but according to the "butt dyno too", it works pretty good.
