MRC dampers having a bigger body diameter would not surprise me at all.

Okay, here is my experience. I have MRC. I bought 4 factory black 5 spoke wheels, the stock Gen 6 wheels. I put 285/35s on them and they contacted the spring perch in the front. I ordered 15mm "adapters" (they bolt to the studs and then have new studs attached, some stud cutting required) and now the wheel and tire clears without any rubbing and sits flush with the fender. I will be ordering rears because the car looks funny without. I have no fear running adapters on the track. Spacers are scary because they reduce the stud length.
