Maybe it was done for 3 reasons. 1. make the car more refined, quite, respectable more a grand tourer car. 2. sell more SVT exhaust product easy upgrade in sound and power for those who want it (in truth a small number of the over all buyers). 3. easy gains for them to show on a special model in 2-3 years (not sure what the gt350 is getting heard rumors of the 5.8 or maybe just 5.0 opened up and returned or maybe 5.0 opened up and bosted???). Just spitballing please don't lambast me if I am wrong or misinformed but please do correct me if I am.

It's not like GM has ever built a engine for one model year and then completely changed it for the next model year(post 1987). As far as the exhaust goes that would be a pretty crappy thing to do as well. It wasn't like GM put a LS2 in the GTO and purposely choked the exhaust for a low output so that they could increase the output a year later in response to competition. If that did happen there should be no "it's not ready yet" to it. That would be on purpose crapping all over previous model year owners.
Very true. I chose poor words for my post and I get where you and Medisin were coming from with those engines not in production yet.

I believe the reasons given for a LS motor making more HP in the vette vs Camaro was something about packaging. The LS2 in question was the same advertised HP in the Vette, CTS-v and GTO, but lower advertised HP in the Trailblazer SS and SSR. But it was never a large difference in power.

Yeah I think you are right. Especially when you look at the intake for the Camaro vs the Corvette which I think is the biggest difference. The exhaust probably has a few differences that are in favor of the Corvette making more power as well as tune.

My post was made because the other guy was saying that GM owners got shafted with cars that came out for one model year. My point was that as soon as the LS2 was ready it was put into the GTO and they didn't hold any power back. If you are just asking a off topic question then the reason is that the exhaust manifolds are different as well as the induction plus GM advertising more power in the much more expensive Vette even though it's only 4 HP LOL. It's not like it is a 30HP difference or something.

I really don't know or care all that much, but I'd be damned if I were to sit here and nit pick Camaros and Challengers day in and day out.

Take the L99 and Camaro out your avatar and I'm not sure whether you bought a 2010 Mustang or not. How are you gonna rally us poor, wronged Ford folk and be slanted in the same breathe?
I don't even know what your talking about in those last 2 sentences. Maybe lay off the pipe bro. Furthermore I have always said " IF" Ford did that. Some guys are quick to say that the 2016 Mustang will have over 450 HP and I for one am quick to say "IF" Ford did that it would be pretty sh!tty to current owners. That's all.
