I'm heading to Spring Mountain Racing in 2017 once they get their 2017 1LE's that the instructors use to lead around the Corvette Driving School. Rich Hearn was kind enough to let me ride shotgun to do some hot laps in both the Z51 and regular 2016 SS to compare their handling last spring. Definitely on my list!

Have they released an update on the 1LE ordering protocol, I thought it was only available in 1SS trim for weight reasons?
Your post is really thorough though! I'm excited to see what you come up with since I have a 1LE now and plan on doing some weight saving mods as well! |

lots of numbers here... again trying to stay thorough since this car isnt coming for a few months and I want to have everything figured out....
So to stay on a budget, I'll probably start with fully fledged raged Stance VS03's staggered at 19" x 10", 19" x 11" the estimated weight for my sizes 22.5 - 23.0 lbslbs the OEM 1LE (shipping) weight is 28-29 lbs ( maybe 1/4 lb for box?) 285/35ZR19 99Y SL BSW 26.9" 11.4" 9.5-11" 10" 10/32" SL 1709 lbs 51 psi 29 lbs 772 305/35ZR19 102Y SL BSW 27.4" 12.3" 10-12" 11" 8/32" SL 1874 lbs 51 psi 30.7 lbs 758 that keeps the .5" rake we spoke of.... by comparison ( and I realize the goodyears may weigh more or less) heres the specs of PSS in the 1LE OEM size 285/30ZR20 99Y XL BSW 26.8" 11.4" 9.5-10.5" 10" 10/32" XL 1709 lbs 50 psi 27.5 lbs 777 305/30ZR20 103Y XL BSW 27.2" 12.3" 10.5-11.5" 11" 9/32" XL 1929 lbs 50 psi 31.8 lbs 764 so thats a NET TOTAL WEIGHT SAVINGS OF 28lbs being rotating mass unsprung weight, it counts as triple ... so car should respond like it lost about 84lbs I imagine that the road racers and track rats here can let me know if that weight savings is worth the shoe swap.....

Here's what I will be going with
Vertini / Stance Wheels FULLY FORGED aluminum wheels 19x 10" fronts, 19x 11" rears semi gloss black with ceramic coating 22.6 and 23.0 lbs, front and rear respectively saving 7 lbs per corner... total weight savings of 28 lbs unsprung rotating mass... should translate into roughly an 84 lb trim of the car's inertia... with the removal of the back seats... that puts me at 100 lbs of felt weight savings... Most likely an aluminum drive shaft next which will save a further 8-10 lbs and approximately 30 lbs of inertia due to its rotating mass. (might also help with engine rev and and spin up) the best part will be the fact that my car should be arriving sometime in March... which is right around when the new Michellin Pilot Sport 4 S tires... 285/35R19 and 305/35R19 most likely.... http://blog.caranddriver.com/micheli...lot-sport-4-s/

few updates....
first of all there is now a REAR SEAT DELETE kit by Schrader http://shraderperformance.com/shop/p...r-seat-delete/ looks interesting... even better they have free install instructions which give us all insight into the process of removing the seats... http://www.shraderperformance.com/install/cam6.pdf I still might get a custom job done since I'm thinking of retaining the seat bottoms and would use a flexible high strength net covered by sound deadening fabric so I could secure long loads like my hockey gear and spare wheels and tires... the load limit on the floor of this unit is only 100 lbs... whereas the originals seat bottoms are good for at least 150-200 pounds per seat....

Second... I'm thinking of going down a full inch smaller in overall wheel+tire diameter (not matching the original diameter by increasing sidewall size as I decrease wheel size as to preserve the speedo calibration)

And now for something a little different... VORTEX GENERATORS
I'm sure I will get alot of head shakes for this one... but as a pilot who has had experience using these... they work and produce REAL results...

What's your goal for the car? In other words, how are you planning on using your car? Reason I ask is because depending on your goal, there might be some better options for you regarding you part list.
Here is are build thread in case you haven't seen it. We have made a lot of mistaken and wouldn't want to see you repeat them. For example, we are running the same Cobra Misano seats you posted and based on the direction are care has taken.... we wouldn't use them today. We are basically going to replace them.
