Some are having issues with the A8 borla xpipe for example. Causing a CEL related to AFM and Borla said to reset the AFM parameters by unplugging the battery. I merely read over it since I don't have A8 haha. It was right here on the forum somewhere.

Does the 60606 connect right to the stock primary cats? Where does it end?

The Borla AFM issues are usually one of two problems.
#1) The vendor you purchased the Xpipe from had the original run of pipes in stock. Some of these made it out of the factory without holes in the AFM valves inside the exhaust. This will always cause a delayed CEL due to the AFM valves. Borla has address this issue long ago, but there are some vendors that haven't inspected their stock to see if they have a kit from those first production runs. #2) People that install the system torque the AFM motors down too tight. They need to be torqued to the correct specs (I think it was 13ft-lb) and blue medium locktite used on the bolts. If you over tighten the AFM motors it will cause a delayed CEL as well because the ECU thinks there is too much resistance to move the valves. Also, Borla makes a full system that allows you to remove the factory exhaust without cutting. You need the secondary cat delete version of the X pipe and then the axle back section doesnt matter if its NPP, non NPP, S-Type/ATAK. You just have to buy both sections from Borla at the same time. This is what I did so that I did not have to cut the factory exhaust at all. I can put it back on the car later without needed to weld anything. |

Bolts right onto the primary cats and then you cut before the muffler (exact measurement is in the install guide, cannot remember of the top of my head).

Seems like a cleaner option than cutting the secondary cats cause there hard to weld i that location.

True, there is a bit more room right before the muffler but I would still recommend that an arcing welder is used and not a straight one, just to make 100% sure the top part gets welded.

i got the p420 exhaust CEL after my 60606 install. i reused the stock exhaust clamp on the driver side, and when i got the CEL and went to swap out to the clamp that came with Borla kit, i immediately saw why that is absolutely necessary. doh!..
With that being said, my scan tool will not clear the code as it is "permanent" will it clear on its own once the car sees that its "fixed" or do i need to go in and clear it after a few drive cycles myself?
