Well not directly, my brother and I both share the trait of tending to over-tighten things! As I've gotten older, I'm starting to rely more and more on a torque wrench for things...

Particularly for oil drain plugs with crush washers... When tightening them with a regular wrench I have gotten to the point where I thought I might be beginning to strip it (where it starts to turn slightly easier again, thinking I'm on the edge of stripping it), but after using a properly set torque wrench I realize that change in feel is the crush washer properly "crushing and sealing"...

Just for reference with your 88 ft/lbs for the TB bolts... Most regular cars specify 80 ft/lbs for the lug nuts on the wheels! (I know Camaro is 120 ft/lbs)... Those poor little TB bolts! Glad you were able to easily recover and not do any other damage... Coulda happen to any of us!
