I did get the rear broken piece removed last night, wear long sleeved shit and gloved when working with a broken CF part. I feel like I have microscopic fibers of CF in my skin, arms and hands and it's really annoying. This CF DS is only 4mm thick! and is crazy light weight. I have started the process with support where I purchased the drive shaft from and hopefully they can/will get me a replacement. But, not sure what one will go back in my car though!
Best part about a CF driveshaft is that it's very light which reduces rotating mass, and if it should ever fail, it won't destroy the bottom of your car. The 2020-2022 Shelby GT500 comes with a CF driveshaft from the factory.

Interesting, I didn't know that.....you'd think they would have saved weight other places as well....

Wasn't much left to save, the front rotors are massive, the second biggest every fitted to a production vehicle, much bigger than the ZL1, and it has a 2.65L blower on top which weighs a good bit more than the ZL1's 1.7L blower. Between those two items and the cooling required to keep temps down for a track car, and bigger wheels than any other Mustang previously that's where the weight increases came from. They did offer carbon fiber wheels on the track pack though which only weigh 17lbs per wheel compared to 42lbs per wheel for the forged aluminum wheels.

Update: Got both halves removed from the car. Looks like the driveshaft was failing in a secondary forward of where it broke closer to the rear end flange. Now the decision, go with another Carbon Fiber DS, Aluminum DS or Molly DS ? My concern is with these drag radials (MT ET Street R's), is that too much grip/bite for the stock DS assembly? Something made the CF one fail, so I'm getting skittish about the whole thing at this point and what is going to last!

Given the lack of options from QA1 for a carbon fiber driveshaft, I would just use a chromoly driveshaft if you want ultimate strength.

Z OH 6 & Joshinator99 - Thanks I'll consider this since I don't want my car back on a lift for this particular reason ever again !

I have a vibration from about 3500rpms and up, believe ds was damaged same time my driverside stock 1/2 shaft failed. Swapped 1/2 shafts for Renegades no issues. Thinking molly way to go. Was pretty surprised at my power level that the stock stuff didn’t hold a 1.5 60’.

NOVAtwinLS3 - Interesting... I was also having vibration, never thought it could be linked to the driveshaft !!!! Very interesting !

Totally off topic, my apologies, but how do shops justify a "755HP package" and only provide 630 to the wheels? Seems disingenuous too me.

GM advertises the car with crank horsepower ratings as well.

The only questionable aspect here is the 20% drivetrain loss they calculated, which is exaggerated and not scientific (but then again, who can realistically expect shops to provide SAE certified ratings?)

So the "packages" are crank horsepower, ok, that makes more sense how they get away with that then.

So if you watch the LMP YouTube videos... they talk about their 900hp build, go through what the mods are, show you the build, but never show the Dyno.. Probably because they are talking at the crank. So probably only 780rwhp or something like that. Florida High Performance, Eric talked about this briefly in one of his videos... He said: " our 1000HP package/840wheel"... or something like that.
