give oil analyzers a try (sold through Amsoil), they use the correct physical test method. my street driven LT1 on a 5k mile change showed 1.5, and 1.7% fuel dilution on both tests i did with them through their reports. i've personally capped my changes at 6k miles max for this reason, even if viscosity is still in grade.

I have had a Whipple installed on my SS since 2019. Have run nothing but 5w30 Castrol Edge and K&N 1017 changed every 3k. Good luck with your 9k mile oil change interval's. Lmao Quote:

I love it, people buy a $50k-$80K car and want to cheap out on oil changes... REALLY?!?!?!?! It's a $100-$150 oil change!!!! If you can't afford that, perhaps you should have considered a much less expensive vehicle because you are in WAY over your head...

There are several oil filters that I think are good. The important thing is just to use a quality brand that you like and that does NOT have that little flange/spout type of center hole and that has the correct bypass valve rating (sometimes it's listed as 22 to 28 psi, sometimes 25 psi, but you need more than the older V8s that had a filter bypass at around 15 psi).
As far as the filters that I typically will use on my cars: Purolator Boss 11403 Mobil 1 M1-114A Fram - I know a lot of people don't like Fram because of the low end products, but their higher end filters are well made and test very well. I will use the Synthetic Endurance (Walmart exclusive), the Titanium (Advance Auto Parts exclusive), or the Ultra Synthetic. The series number is 12060. Those are just what I like to use. Lots of people like other brands like Wix. The brands I use are mostly related to the products that I can find easily where I normally shop. |

it's generally not a good idea to increase the cold weight. all you are doing is increasing viscosity for cold starts to a range outside of what is expected
