I pulled the starter relay as a quick anti theft measure and had a very peculiar problem afterwards. I immediately replaced the relay and attempted to start the car. It cranked for a really long time but would not run. Meanwhile the parking lights and drls stayed on no matter what I did. I started getting a message on the dash saying battery low start car. The car had a very strong crank so I ruled out the battery. In order to fix it I disconnected the negative cable for about 5 min. It started right up. I’m still unclear as to why momentarily pulling the starter relay resulted in this issue.
