You don’t have to tune for 94. That’s so close to 93 and it will help prevent knock retard in high heat or high load conditions.

My question would be, is 92 pure gasoline better than 93-94 with the ethanol mixed in?
I’d take the higher octane with ethanol every day of the week.

Josh is spot on. Being 93 octane is bare minimum octane for the LT1 engine, I would put 94 in it every chance I could. But the best solution would be to install a flex sensor and run E50 or higher. These engines live on the knock sensors and actually need a little timing pulled to run 93 octane with no knock in a lot of weather conditions.

Technically, 91 octane is the bare minimum, but Colorado and California might be only states with 91 as their highest octane

Point being 93 octane is the absolute bare minimum octane you should run and even then, you will still likely get knock retard in a lot of weather conditions with the LT1. 91 octane will be even worse. I wasn't saying anything in regards octane minimums from state to state to be considered "premium" fuel.

I can't speak to the LT1, but I don't recall logging any retard when my car was stock or on HPE's 850. I'll look.

Quite a bit of the country only has 91 octane as the highest normal fuel grade. I just took a trip out to Utah the other week, and once I hit about Kansas, the highest I ever came across was 91. Some stations I came across in the midwest only had 87 octane, with no other choices. I passed those by, but I could only run 91 until I got closer to home on the return trip back.

I had to run 1/2 tank of 93 and 1/2 tank of 100 on track . Made no difference. Have to be tuned for it.

Yea, you could definitely add some advance/fuel to your 97 octane mixture

i didnt say you had to. i said the tuner "might" get a degree more of timing if he maxed out on 93 but maybe not netting in zero to maybe a HP or 2.
