My 21 ZL1 had no film. I had PPF installed professionally after picking the car up. Ordered the car and picked it up the day it arrived at the dealership.

Thanks for all of the responses. It seems GM either has some QC issues or they've elected to stop including certain items. That's a shame really, since these cars continue to climb in price.

What does a climb in price have to do with that little section of protection, the car is going to be nicked and such all over, might as well put PPF on the whole car. I'd be more concerned about the whole car as opposed to that tiny section.

What does being “nicked all over” have to do with what he’s saying? The price went up and he didn’t get what’s been included as part of the base price every year, for the most part, other than 2023. Even if I didn’t want that piece of protection, I’d still be annoyed by its absence, unless they’re giving a real world credit.

With that said, 100% agree with the OP…

Then take it into the dealer and get it fixed, than remove it when you decide to PPF the whole car....pretty easy really

My 21 SS 1le had it. All cars with the 285/305 or bigger cars should have it but apparently Chevy is hap hazard about it. But in reality that little area it covers is useless. PPF that whole area from the body seam on down

It's not such a huge deal because of the side skirts on the ZL1 that provide a lot of coverage. Coupled with proper front rock guards, they stop the vast majority of rocks and pebbles.

Nevertheless, I'd still get the whole car covered in PPF for maximum protection.

Is this not supposed to be installed by the manufacture/dealer?
My 2017 didn't have it. But that was solved with some Suntek Ultra self-healing PPF and I'm sure the installer was happy to not have to mess with it

It doesn’t look like the ZL1 was ever supposed to get it

Incorrect. The 2017 SS 1LE as I had, came with the original Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars. Not what comes on the ZL1's I had/have.

And the original supercar's were like gummy. I couldnt drive down any road a low speeds without hearing the sandblasting from the tires on the inside of the wheel wells from all the stones and rocks.

The ZL1 supercar 3's are not nearly as sticky. And the ZL1 1LE has the Supercar 3r's. So hammer yourself in the head dummy.

Hmm, I don’t know about that (it’s possible I guess) But I had a 16SS, (19ZL1) and now 22LT1. All of these cars Had the tiny rocker protection.
