What module would you be ordering? The dealer flashes this to either the existing ECU or BCM (honestly not sure which module they connect to for this specific calibration). I would also assume the VIN is not entered by the tech, rather it's read from the module after it's married to your vehicle. Sort of like when you flash a calibration file to your ECU, the tune software is simply reading the VIN, not user-entered.

Lastly...are you attempting to do the drag calibration...or an autocross calibration? I have only heard of a drag calibration from GM. Do they now have multiple calibrations?

I bought the actual chassis control module as this will allow me to have the autocross tune in one and the factory one in the other.

This will allow me to run in a "stock" class for scca if I wanted and I will have it to fall back on if I am unhappy with the changes in the autocross diff tune.

I have not yet confirmed this is a ZL1 option, just going by what I read and heard from others so we will see.

This is the autocross diff cal, not the drag cal.

Interesting. Where does the chassis control module reside in the car? Does that unit get flashed directly, or is it done "indirectly" through the OBD2 port under the dash like how the ECU is flashed?

UPDATE - This is a no-go. I called personally and spoke with them and this is for SS only. The calibration upgrade available for the ZL1 is the "Drag Racing Calibration" only. Also had someone from engineering involved and they confirmed that is the case.

I wasn't trying to fix anything but if there was something "better" out there then I wanted it. I use the car mostly for autocross and I thought I saw some people with ZL1's that got this but apparently not. Or they got the drag race calibration without knowing...

Sorry for the let down, LOL. If anyone gets new info feel free to send me a message !

I had it done on my 2018 ZL-1 A-10, and I felt no difference. $350.

do you have the paperwork?

They needed a part number and everything I gave them was ss only. With my vin, the only option that came up was the drag racing calibration.

That’s why I recommended giving them an SS vin... and you could at least try it and test back to back.

it doesn't work that way. You call GM to get this specific calibration for your vin. If there is a module with a different vin, it will be unhappy. In addition, this module controls much more than just the diff.

That's not what I've heard, from my friends at GM, and that race the Camaro's. They 'swapped' those ICCM's at the track... in my buddies SS 1LE, VIN wasn't matched to his.

Either way, not as easy at it should be, I agree.

I think the ZL1 1LE is the best programming anyways. And that is why they don't offer the 'Auto-X' package for it. The SS 1LE (non AX flash) doesn't engage the diff as well as the AX tune.

Best regards,
Dave

Ask your buddies at GM about the ZL1 1LE getting an autocross tune? Maybe they will tell you that what we have is superior? maybe the same? Maybe they can give you a ZL1 1LE part number for this calibration.

I could understand swapping the ICCM within SS 1LE's, the vins won't match but at least the vehicles will match.

I just can't do that at my dealership, there's no way to pass something through with a different vin number. Not to mention, I would have to have the car there that matched that vin to even get to that programming screen. Maybe a GM engineer could do it.

My friend has an SS 1LE stock ICCM, and then at the test day, GM installed an Auto-X tuned ICCM, they were switching in and out of different cars.

But, yeah your dealer may be different. Another way you could do it, is if you knew someone with an SS camaro... install your 'blank' module, and have him get it flashed with the AX tune. Then, remove it... put his original one back in, so his car would be stock SS tune... and you could 'test' plugging the one you had flashed into your car and seeing if it worked.

From what I've heard from the GM engineers, the ZL1 1LE is the best ICCM setup and doesn't require the flash. But, I've not tested both so I don't know if they are the same or what may be different.
