Those wheels are very nice Crosive! Wish I still had my 2016 SS and I would probably get them from you!

Put it this way: my stepbrother has a 2009 Jeep Wrangler that’s heavily modified for serious off-roading. He takes it to Moab every year for Jeep week, among other serious off-roading adventures around Arizona many times a year where he lives. He had his aftermarket rims powder coated black in ‘09. There’s still not a scratch deep enough to show bare metal.

The stock wheels are painted. Time will tell how long paint holds up. I bought my car used and that paint was wrecked due to improper detailing. Was able to get their repair negotiated in the deal. Wheel guy came to my house and repaired road rash and repainted all 4 wheels in the color I chose.

I like the OEM fit and they’re nice wheels. I love the color change! He said he was charging dealer $95 per wheel.

I vote for powdercoat. Still, properly prepped and painted wheels are just fine, and far more durable than people think. ..and powder, like paint, is only as good as the prep. I'd take properly painted wheels over a quickly done powder job any day. I painted my Trailblazer wheels with the duplicolor wheel paint system. Removed the wheels, clean, sand, prep, prime, paint and satin clear. Lasted for many years with zero blemishes. This was on my DD. Regular washing and wheel cleaner use. -and I'm no pro, but I'm not lazy. either I mean, ya paint your CAR, right? When done right, either will last a LONG time. When done wrong, both will fail. Still, if given the choice....I'd vote for powder.
Done plenty. Used to do it for a living. No comparison. Powder coat every time. Of course if prep is garbage, product will be garbage. That is true with anything. Given the same attention to prep, powder coat will withstand a lot more abuse and look good longer than paint. Depends on application as well. Some car / wheel designs subject the face of the wheel to a lot more debris than others.

Those wheels look sick with your Camaro!! I am a big fan of black out wheels.

Thanks, Trae! It’s hard to tell in the pics but they are actually a graphite color similar to the color of the car.

I paint wheels using Awlgrip. If done properly they are as durable as powder coat with a much deeper and cleaner gloss. Also easier to keep clean since powder coat is much more porous.

On another note easy to repair if you damage them. Powder coat? Not so much.
