I traced the shape of the air vent on some paper and then folded a bandanna to fit. Most of the “vent” is actually fake.

I think so to, but I'm not going to cover up the dash vents with some ghetto trash looking piece when I can simply not turn the ac down so low and it fixes the issue...

To cover the vent, I bought a srtip of "rubber wall cove base" from Home Depot.

Made a pattern from cardboard, traced the pattern onto the rubber sheet, cut it out, and slid it in place over the dash vent. No more fog. Being a pliable rubber, it stays in place but is easily removed as needed.

Between the texture of the rubber base and if you make clean/straight cuts, it vanishes from sight both inside and outside the car. You have to look to see it, if you get my meaning.

The only issue I have now is that it outgasses and have to clean the inside of the windshield more often.

Outgassing would be from plasticizers in a vinyl cove base, not vulcanized rubber.

As long as you use the rubber one, you’d be fine, althouh it might smell like a new tire inside your car for a while. But if you did get PVC by mistake and parked in the sun you’d really regret it after it melted and oozed down into your vent.

It hasn't melted at all. I'll have to look for the vulcanized rubber one.

So did you cover the vent or redirect the portion causing the problem?

Grabbed a quick pic at a stoplight. This is what I made with 3M DiNoc vinyl. It's sticky on one side, so it sticks down just fine. Lasted over a year in New Orleans heat.



The pic was taken up by my mirror. It's not nearly as visible from the driver's seat.

I'm using this same solution, cut to nearly the same shape. It's been in place so long now (over 1.5 years now), I'd almost forgotten it was there!
