you want to adjust the camber to the track and your driving style.
Some tracks will need al little, sone will need alot. It was clearly too much. start out at the 1.7, then look at the wear at each session, and adjust when / if necessary. there was still alot of life left in the tires with the correct camber, but lesson learned I guess.

I'd take a look at the toe as well. Your best bet is to adjust camber based on temp readings, it can be different per track. I wouldn't just drop down to -2.0 right away though, as -2.7 is not outrageous so there may be some underlying issue. What were your tire pressures?

Then it's just a guess. Go get the alignment checked. Many of us discovered the factory alignment to be off, sometimes by a lot. Have them measure the toe in "street" and "track" camber plate settings. No they won't be happy with that suggestion, but you'll see that changing the plate also changes the toe, that's how mac struts work. In the Camaro with its front-of-axle steering rack, adding negative camber results in toeing-out. You'll have to decide if you want the toe to be "correct" either on the street, or on the track, or make a compromise for both.

When you rotate the front struts on the Zl1 1LE it results in toe out.
You need to adjust the toe any time you change camber. When you a change the camber in the rear to -2 degrees it results in toe out. Track settings with stock 1LE tires -2.7 degrees front camber, -2 degrees rear camber. Front toe .05 out per side, .1 degree total. Rear .05 in per side, .1 degree total. Thrust angle 0 degrees. Cold tire pressure 26 psi, hot 32 to 34 psi. Tire pyrometer is the best way to check alignment at the track. Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer is a less accurate alternative. |

I dont know what GM says in tire warranties, but I know other manufacturers state that they do not warranty tires as the tire manufacturer takes care of that. You could contact Goodyear and see what they say.

I used to be Dragoneye...

Mine are wearing in the exact same place - though not that bad, yet...I blame it on the aggressive camber and toe out...
Might want to look into an alignment while in "street mode" to make sure things are set properly. What sort of tire pressures are you running? |

5 days x 4-5 sessions/day = 20-25 sessions
given the weight of the car its power etc. this seems great to me although camber does need a little adjustment and maybe a good alignment would help the front tires on my Viper ACR-E last 5 SESSIONS, then you need a new front set - so I am a bit jaded |
