This is a camaro, not a ferrari. There will be stuff on the car that is lackluster.

Strut tower appearance

I just bought a 2017 SS2 convertible and the strut tower metal is not smooth. According to the service manager, they are cast aluminum and it is the result of the casting. He claims it is not a structural problem. I am not comfortable with this answer.

I see that other owners have the same problem. Has anyone pursued this issue with GM in Detroit?

It will go nowhere, those parts don't need to be "cosmetic", will be their answer.

The cast aluminum strut tower is fairly exotic and a way to meet their chassis strength and weight targets. I'm baffled that people are complaining about this!

People that buy these cars really would rather have stamped steel used just because it's smoother, even if the strength and/or weight were compromised?

There are plenty of compromises in the design, but this isn't one of them.

Really? I don't see an issue here either as some have replied! Are you going to have the hood open all the time just to admire the engine and chassis? I would be more concerned about the exterior paint on the body and how it is before worrying about what it looks like under the hood!
