If the A10 is as great as Al O says it is for the track, it would make sense that it should be in their 1LE track car eventually. The A8 is faster than the manual in a straight line, but it has overheating issues when used on hot days at the track, which is probably why they won't put it in the 1LE. If the A10 doesn't overheat and is faster around the track, hopefully it will find its way in to a 1LE one day. And that will be the day I go put in my deposit. As bad as I want a 1LE, I just can't do 2 hours a day in bumper to bumper traffic here in Southern California with a manual transmission.

Are you listening Al???

I think alot of other potential buyers in Southern California and other metropolitan areas are in the same boat and cant even consider a manual where they live. An A10 in the 1LE would be the ultimate car for me. And it would open up a whole new customer base of people who want 1LE performance, but cant even consider a manual due to crazy traffic. I think GM is missing a large portion of potential customers who simply can even consider this car, even though they want it.
Come on GM, help us out.. I'll buy one.

Would I rather drive a manual at the track? HECK YES..... Is it worth the trade off in traffic? Not at this point. Still an amazing car that I hope to own one day.

Some form of a 1LE - someday, but I don't think the current gen 6 will get an auto option.

Unfortunately I agree, I don't think it will happen, but I know they'd sell at least one if they did. So its totally what GM should do. It makes perfect sense to me.

Does the a8 have overheating issues, or does the c7 and especially the Z06...?

I thought you knew everything?

YES. The overheating and other issues with the A8 have been well known for a long time.
Why do you think GM is rushing out the A10?

Many speculate that the annual release of information for the upcoming model year ZO6 was conspicuosly absent at the Bowling Green Bash this year because the 2017 ZO6 is going to have major body changes to help overcome the overheating issues and GM doesn't want to kill sales of the remaining 2016 ZO6s.
It's just a theory, but it makes a lot of sense.

My next car will be a 1LE. As much as I like a manual, if the A10 is available that's what it will have.

The original 1LEs were available with either a 5 speed or a 700R4. The 5 speed was a 305 and the 700R4 was a 350. So it has happened before.

I think I remember that being Tadge in relation to the Corvette (though I could be wrong)....

The A8 can match/beat Porsche PDK in shift times if you have the transmission in sport and let the computer do the shifting for you. Which isn't really what people who like the PDK really want, though everyone talks about shift times which can be miss leading.

People want to hit the up shift paddle and they want an instant response (as far as their perception is concerned) to that command. The A8 when in manual mode does seem to have a pretty big delay (comparatively speaking) between command input and shift.

Though there are benefits in having a torque converter when compared to DCT (why Honda Motor Company put one on their DCT).

I think it is partly the case of people asking for something that they don't know they are.

At first I thought...who is this guy...And why does he have a bone to pick with me with only 5 posts?

Then I remembered, TTC6. I've called you out mutliple times as you get banned and then re-register with a new username. Not that that's against the rules (maybe it is?) but you always give enough reason to ban you again anyways.

Manual transmissions will always generate less heat than automatics, they It's the torque converter. That said, The z06 overheating with an A8 is not a symptom of an issue with the a8 because it does with the M6 too. The car clearly has cooling issues. I think most people understood that, but apparently it went over your head.

If you think GM is "rushing out the a10" due to some heat problems with the A8 you really have misjudged how long it takes to develop something like the a10. The A10 has been in development far longer than the a8's have been on the street. A8 seems to be a stop gap until the a10 was ready.

Also GM released shift time graphs showing in what circumstances the A8 shifts faster than the PDK. Some people transposed those values into everything having to do with the transmission, but peoples lack of reading comprehension is not GM's fault. They never said the paddles had faster response.

Yep. I think a few years ago it might have been Car & Driver doing a similar type contest and the Fiesta ST was in the top 3.

Well, not to burst your bubble lol, but I personally was told this at a GM performance event as well. I even asked multiple questions in regards to this and both of these engineers answered "yes". This was in relation to shift speed, upshifting and downshifting, and with and without the use of paddles...One of the specifically told me the paddles on the A8 were "nearly instantaneous in response from pulling, to shifting", we know how true that turned out to be. It has since been proven that the upshift speed in D is similar to a PDK, but much slower when using the paddles, and that downshift speed in D, or while using the paddles is slower as well...similar upshift speed to PDK is great if all you do is drag race, but on a road course the speed of the downshifts are just as important. I hope the A10 is a solid improvement...
