I asked my salesman for a kit and he ordered one for me. No charge. I keep the compressor in the space under the trunk floor. The bottle of fix-it is in the garage until I get standard tires for winter. I also have a plug kit. Hope I never have to use any of it.

I thought the Roadside Assist was for anything. Gonna have to look into that.
And.....a run flat could get a blowout. Then you wouldn't be able to drive to the dealer.

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

When I go to replace the stock run flats I will be stepping up to wider wheels as well and going with 275/35ZR20 fronts and 315/35ZR20's Nitto N555 G2's.

I hate run flats. It's a waste. On my daily driven car, I want a tire that can be repaired as nails will happen. The fact that no one stocks these F1's locally (here at least) and they are $425 installed for each possible nail is ridiculous. Give me a tire that can be safely repaired for $30 or replaced the same day for around $200. I had the luck of having a nail in my right rear tire 1000 miles in. Took my run flats off. Just my opinion.

Mine picked up a nail last week. Had to drive to CT to get a replacement, the only one in pretty much the whole Northeast, without ordering and waiting. We got a pretty good deal on it through MFI, $317. Funny thing is, we haven't even put it on yet, we just plugged the tire that night and have been driving on it since.

I'm starting to doubt everything I've heard and read saying you can't just plug a runflat. I beat my car hard at least once every day(usually the end of the day, my reward to myself for not bitchslapping any customers that day), 130-150mph, sometimes a few times a day if the road's clear enough. It's been fine, hasn't lost a drop of air yet, can't tell any difference.

It's important to note that while blowouts are still possible the stiffness of the sidewall is meant to support the weight of the vehicle even without pressure which means less transfer of energy in the the event of a road hazard. That translates into increased stability. While they are more expensive and harder to obtain your best bet is the road hazard protection many tire shops offer. I drive close to 3 hours a day commuting and it has proven to be worth the few extra dollars when I've encountered a problem. Many manufacturers have made them standard equipment and perhaps for good reason. Of course if you're worried about flats you could always buy a used F1A1 Tank

The thing with run flats is you can repair them as long as you didn't drive on it with extremely low psi. They only lose their structural integrity when rode on while "flat". But you will have to do the repair because it will be almost impossible to find a shop that will patch or plug it on your word you didn't drive on it flat. They don't want any liability associated with it.

That was the same issue with me. I didn't drive on it lower than 25 psi. No one would patch it. So after I replaced them all I patched it myself and now I have a full set as spares. That will come in handy if I don't have the money for a new set when the time comes.

I drove it maybe 50 feet into the shop to give it a quick vacuum, I always check the tire pressure everytime I start it. It did show a little low, 29 instead of the usual 35-38, maybe 5 minutes later is when I got a text telling me I had a flat. We used a good quality, professional grade plug, not what you can get from Walmart. Would have done the patch/plug combo, but our tire machine is older and I didn't want to f-up my rim and no place we called would do it that day, it was almost 6. But I NEEDED my daily beat, so we plugged and went. Since we own a body shop, we know most of the tire guys around so they took our word for it that it hadn't been driven on more than a minute, and they would have done it, not sure if they would for a regular, off the street customer.

In the future we might consider going with conventional tires, but for now, I love the way the runflats handle.

hey IDejavul how is teh ride with the Contis DWS 06's? Been looking at those tires myself, just worried it will change cars handling and overall performance compared to the RFs Goodyears? Any feedback would be appreciated.

My run-flats will be gone shortly, and there is no way I would pay a premium to replace them. I carry a plug kit and fix-a-flat but never had to use them in 6 years with a 335.

Nobody ever mentions how heavy the reinforced sidewalls cause a run-flat tire to be. Getting rid of them is an immediate performance increase and that weight is beyond the wheel OD. The nearer to the OD of the wheel/tire you remove the weight the greater the benefit.

I imagine one can expect a smoother quieter ride as well.

Quieter for sure. Haven't really noticed a big difference in ride. Mind you I had replaced my RFs before I finished my break in so I never really got to play with the RFs and the DWS' aren't on my car now so not sure how they do in the summer heat either.

Discount Tire Co repaired the nail in my run flat for free. They use a patch/plug hybrid and it's Goodyear approved for their runflats. That was four months ago and no issues since. They didn't ask me anything about how much I drove with it flat.
