Worth it to us. Always replaced a damaged tire for us, and we don't buy aftermarket rims/tires so that isn't a consideration. I understand what LesBaer is saying and it would be a wasted purchase if you didn't plan on keeping the OEM tires/rims.

People seem to confuse insurance with "magic blanket coverage that covers every single last flaw." Just exercise a little common sense and think of how ridiculously out of hand things would get if people filed claims against the littlest scratch.

There's a whole world of things out there ready to cause more serious damage than simple curb rash -- mainly nails and stray objects in the road. The investment is still valid IMO because 90% of the time it's totally out of your control to avoid.

Unrelated side note: If you need to replace your tires, look into BFGoodrich g-Force COMP tires. They are all-seasons, but based on a lot of reviews on Camaro5, it performs comparably to summer-only tires and has a lot more grip during cold months. If you're super super competitive with your car at the strip or track, obviously there are better options, but for most normal driving, it's the best of both worlds. I'm considering these also for the fact that they don't pick up nails as easily as my thinner, sticker Goodyear Eagle F1's.

Your auto insurance should cover your windshield.

Good point and I'm sorry for my short sighted post. And if you do decide to purchase different wheels, I'm pretty sure you can cash out for a pro-rated refund...you may want to verify.

I bought it when I bought my 2013 ZL1 convertible.

Good News
I had replaced the factory tires with Michelin Pilot Super Sports in one size larger than stock (295 vs 285 front, 315 vs 305 back), and ended up getting a bolt in the tread of a rear tire. These rear tires go for around $450 each, and it WAS covered even though they were not the tires that came on the car.

Bad News
Curb rash is NOT covered although I thought it was. I was told that the rule of thumb was, 'if the rim still holds air, it's not covered'. I told them heck, if I knew that, I'd have hit that curb a few more times.

Yes, we found out about the curb rash exclusion the hard way too. The day before our car was scheduled to go into the body shop for repairs from a lady backing into our car, we hit a broken piece of curb and screwed up both passenger side wheels. While the car was in the body shop, we were told the wheels would be $150.00 each to repair. We said, "No, we have the wheel and tire insurance, so please turn it in to them." Before the body shop got the denial, the wheel guy came and repaired them without authorization. We got both wheels fixed at no charge to us. We were not going to pay $300.00 to have them repaired, as we were planning on getting new wheels soon anyway. We cancelled the wheel and tire coverage on this car and were refunded almost all of the money we paid for the policy. We told the dealer the policy does NOT cover curb rash like they told us it did, and they acted very surprised. I'm sure they knew, and shame on us for not reading the fine print. Oh well, live and learn.

These are dealer type plans they are selling. Each dealer could offer something different. I picked up the tire warranty mine was offering only because I brow beat the guy down to 500 for 5 years. I made him read the contract with me so I understood what they were offering.

That's about the only thing I purchase from the finance department. I got the wheel/tire and PDR (paintless dent repair) package on this car as well as my other cars. Well worth it to me. I got the 5 year plan for less than $400. Obviously curb rash is not covered.

I got it and already had GM replace both front tires and a new rim with a loaner for a week. No charge for anything. Great option paid for itself a few times over already.

I work at a Toyota dealership and we have TFL tires for life program. They do any make and model but apparently not car like our bc tires are way too expensive.
