It didn't. The link you posted in the other thread just gives basic info about the car, not the car that was acutually tested. That website is just a collection of lap times, that run was actually done by Car and Driver.

I'm sorry but I'm ready to accept defeat to a 2013 gt500. I just am. Personally, I think it will beat a z in just about every category since it has a benchmark or goal to try an obtain.

Now, regardless of what happens, based on the reviews on how easy the z was to drive to the limits, if you compare average joe to average joe in both cars then I think the z will win hands down. Racer to racer, I think the gt will get us. this is pure speculation and like the rest of us, I will wait for a true test before I pass judgement.

Both cars have forged aluminum wheels. The "base" '11 - '12 GT500 is probably not more than 1 or 2 seconds behind the SVTPP equipped one on a road course and dead even on a drag strip since the 20" wheels effectively negate the 3.73 gearing. They had to equip it with the 3.73, otherwise it would've been slightly slower in a straight line than the "base" one with 3.55 gearing.

No one ever did a head-to-head comparison of the SVTPP and non-SVTPP. And there's probably a reason for that...

edit:
Forgot about the Gurney flap and shocks, and all I listed was the "performance enhancing" bits.
Out of curiosity, what does the SVT-PP cost? Is this something done after you purchase a base GT500 or can you just order the GT500 SVTPP straight from the factory? I don't guess I've ever seen one, or perhaps just didn't notice.

$3,500 and you have to order it from the factory. Dealers usually option out this package and the electronics package for cars in the lot.

Mods, please move this thread to the GT500 forum, or at least the "ZL1 vs." forum. Thank you.

It seems strange that when you click on the car link, it takes you to the 2013 spec GT500. All the other links take you to the specs of the actual car that ran the lap.

It's maybe a part of the advertising. Who knows. That video is old and came out long before the 2013 GT500 was announced. Who knows.

Yeah, because no one will mod their GT500s, right?

It's not "strange," it's simple misinformation. You can look up the information for yourself (from other sources) and see that it's old data. Did you not read my post where I said NO ONE has done any tests/reviews on the '13 GT500 and there aren't even any press cars in existence yet to be tested?

Why so many ZL1 fans are worried is a good question. There's almost no chatter about the ZL1 on the GT500 boards. Now when you start talking about modding, all bets are off the table.
