I’m surprised they don’t have any official numbers ready. They teased the thing a year ago. You think that would be enough time to finalize everything.

Agreed. I am surprised they don't have an official HP figure yet

Oh, guess you didn't know. I blew the A10 finally. It's at an unknown specified place. I got it covered by warranty. At least we found it's breaking point. haha. We are going to retune when I get it back and dial it down a bit. My last #'s were 1199/931 and spinning on the dyno so. I have a feeling we were in the mid 1200 hp range so. But, whatever. And I'm now.............bored with the 500. I was hoping for more, but it will fall in line with the Zl1 and Zl1 1LE I have a feeling so nothing I'd spend $100k on that's for sure. Guess I'll wait till the hype dies down. Until then............

Well, we can kind of figure out what it can do. Notice the weight is missing. It's rumored at 4200 lbs. Not sure how, but that's what I hear. If it's 4200 lbs, forget it. It's done. Esp on a track. But, we'll see I guess.

Ford is not known for typically doing things over-engineered just because (i.e. if they could get away with 15.5" rotors, but decided to do 16.5" just because it's more impressive). They typically only put things on cars that will get to whatever their goals are. So, if you look at the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE - the performance, size, weight - and it's brakes (15.4/14.4), what they are capable of doing, than look at the size of the new GT500's brakes (16.5/14.6)... [GT350 is 15.4/15] Last edited by Mountain; 01-14-2019 at 10:41 AM. Reason: added GT350 brake size |

I remember seeing in a brochure or a write up somewhere from one of the leaks that said it was 755bhp and 700ft-lbs. Granted, I don't really care about those numbers too much as its irrelevant to me. But the DCT and potential different trim packages with more aero, sound awesome.

I don't understand why people complain about 700 horses, that is tons of power and so is 650 .... I think the ZL1 still has more torque and is lighter than this but let's be honest Ford and Dodge are creating more hype their sports cars. Team Camaro needs better marketing and needs to make the brand appear more exciting. I'm sure the existence of the Vette affects that but it needs to change for the 7th gen.
They can market well and we will see that magic with the C8 corvette surprise reveal tomorrow. Either way I support all American manufacturers especially being a Detroiter and I'm excited about this GT500 too. |

I have to say, I am impressed with the GT500 so far, where I didn't think I really was going to be.
It seems that Ford Performance put a lot of effort into making the car a serious "triple-threat" car. I think it will out-perform the ZL1 and offer circuit performance similar to the ZL1 1LE. I don't think it will completely annihilate the ZL1 though, as the Camaro has the weight advantage. But FP revised the front suspension geometry (even over the GT350), revised the entire cooling system (for track use), spent a lot of effort on aero and vehicle dynamics calibration (taking a lot of real lessons-learned from the GT, GT race car, GT350 and GT4 race car). Should be a very impressive car! |

Im not super impressed. With a DCT its mid 3s 0-60 and Ford claims sub 11 in the 1.4 mile. Meaning its prob 10.95 with perfect prep and conditions. Not that much faster than the current ZL1. Similar 0-60s with it being only marginally faster in the 1/4 mile. Meh.

Can we, for a moment, comment on how jaded the automotive community has become?
"Mid 3 second 0-60, sub 11 seconds, 7 speed DCT with over 700 HP....not impressed" Meanwhile only 7 years ago it was *very* impressive when the 2011 Camaro and Mustang were running mid 12 stock and the ZL1 was hitting 12 flats stock. |
