Joe Paterno is being vilified by some. But the more reasonable thinkers are seeing it the way it is.

He is to be held to the standard that HE places on himself and that HE places on his students. Even some of his former players and students who loved him to death have said so.

He should not be criminaly prosecuted but his firing was absolutely justified. Yes, even after a long and distinguished carreer. In some states he broke the law. Maybe not in Penn. but it's not living up to his own standards to not act considering the crimes commited.

Nobody is trying to give the perpetrator a pass. And McQueary shold be criminaly prosecuted. It's sickening he'd let that go.

You'll never be good in a possition of that type of responsibility then. Joe Paterno had a responsibility that went beyond just coaching.

Well too late for that esp as far as my company goes. And being at the top I was told the less you go around getting involved in things that have no bearing on you the less you can being held accountable and charge for things that you didn't even do. Be involved in the major things but limit my liability on things that didn't directly involve me, never jump into something unless you have to is what I was told and how I operate and thus far its been the correct method.

As long as I could live with myself for not acting, I'm ok with that. If I was any number of these PSU coaches/administrators, I'm not sure how they can do that.

And again what my real point is, is that Joe should just had to make sure McQueary went to the police not take it upon himself to go to them. The less people involved the better that way the story comes out accurate and not differing everytime is told, which seems to happen when recalling what someone else report to you.

Sorry but he deserves to be let go! Not reporting it to the Cops is accepting it and allowing it to happen further. Lucky he's not being charged along wit hteh other two school reps

He's not being charged because he didn't lieeeeeeeeeeee. The other two lied, Joe told what part he played and for him that part was little. He was a middle man between the witness and the department in his company that handles these matters.

I agree, I just hope your just as avid in your community with all the people that are not reporting these crimes as well. But i guess you not giving them a second thought because they aren't in the public's eye.

I'll bet that Paterno's recollection of the story the GA told him and the GA's version will differ significantly. Joe had already laid the groundwork with his vagueness in the grand jury report.

I've held people in my community accountable every day for the last 20 yrs and very few of them are in the public eye. Any other comments about my thoughts?

Exactly my point. This is matter that no one should be able to live with themselves for inaction.

I'd bet the further this goes along, the more we will discover how much more Joe (and other staff members) actually knew. I think we are just touching the iceberg here.

Anyway you slice this (whether your for or against Joe), this is just a very sad and disturbing story!!
