. My stock ZL1 has pulled off several 1.6 60' times, with a best of 1.65 on the factory rubber. If that can be duplicated with the new car, not only do I think that very low 11s or high 10s could be possible, it will be probable.

If he knew about these cars, he would've known that the ZL1 driver shouldn't have been pulling his foot -- no lift shift, just punch the clutch and row the gear, right foot stays planted in a drag.
And I agree that if the ZL1 had the A10, there wouldn't be a fair fight, Chrysler doesn't have a comparable transmission to go against all the hype of the A10. They need a manual Hellcat for a proper comparison and again a driver that understands no lift shift. You see the ZL1 just flub on the shift and fall back. |

I've driven a scat pack with the 8 speed and it seemed like a really nice transmission. I don't see why people think the 10 speed will be so much better than Dodge's 8 speed that it will give the ZL1 a huge advantage at the strip. The auto should lose some horsepower compared to the M6 as well. My opinion is that the Auto Hellcat and Auto ZL1 will be very close on the straights. Where the 10 speed will shine is on the track. That's what GM engineered it for, not the strip.

I have what is basically a scat pack on my durango A8...diablo tune, cai, larger TB, Borla exhaust, catch can. The A8 is nice on the dodge, but I don't think folks are considering the A10 to be the primary advantage from what I gather here.
It's really going from a dig & getting a jump on the heavy cat & better driving skills to beat it to 1/4 before the pull of all that extra 70HP sneaks up. Not sure why you think the M6 has a HP advantage over the auto...first I ever heard this?? Quote:

I don't think he is saying John can't drive, but rather he and the driver of the ZL1 should know how to drive a car to get the best times out of it ie no lift shift which was not performed. It could have been done on purpose since that was done from a performance shop and was just saying , oh look the ZL1 was so close, but purchase our upgrades for an arm and a leg and you can beat it. They can do what ever they want to make their own results when they have a specific agenda. A true comparison needs to unbiased.

Because we are on a car forum where MOST stay hidden, so they get butt hurt for some odd reason cus one car beat another car doing one thing. Then, when it beats another car doing another thing, it's all hail to that car. I haven't driven the new Zl1 yet, but over the weekend I did drive the Charger Hellcat and I'm leaning big time towards that car. I thought I'd never buy a Dodge, but there is no denying that car. None. Plus, I think I'd like a sedan next to my Z06. We'll see what happens. I have yet to see a Zl1 in person so.

Nicely done. I'm still shopping online tonight. My last 3 cars, I've gone from a '14 ZL1 to a '15 GTR to a '16 Z06 I'm in now. My deal is done on my lease transfer on my Silverado, so another month and I'm going to either have the HC or Zl1 in my garage. I'm actually looking at the 392 now for some odd reason. Maybe the $15k price difference. Still doing homework on it. I'm not looking to mod this car as my Z06 is my toy. The HC I looked at over the weekend was a '16 w/1100 miles for $63k. So, it's in that same range as the Zl1. I won't pay $72k for a '17 Hellcat tho.
