The ticket is $135. Sad thing is, I wasn't launching either time, no burning out, nothing. First one I accelerated from 30 to about 42 and the exhaust opened up, and to this cop I was apparently accelerating "excessively". Same sort of thing happened on the 2nd ticket, for some reason this cop has a boner for me. I actually got him to admit it was the exhaust noise while he had me pulled over the 1st time. He was quite a bit passed me going in the opposite direction when I hit the gas a bit, so I told him he was full of it, that he heard my exhaust, which is completely stock. He told me it wasn't the exhaust, then 4 minutes later asked me to rev the car... I did... and he said, "see it's loud"... ![]() That said, he's gonna love my ZL1 next spring... |

but I will say this: the two most fun cars I have had the pleasure to drive are my SS and my friend's Scion FRS... the SS's v8 sound keeps me plenty happy, weather I go fast or slow, but I do miss the easy fun I had with the v6... but not enough to go back. power is an addictive drug. like I said, I have somebuyers remorse, but only to some extent... when I do find some empty roads, the v8 will thrill me just right... but the FRS... I never thought I could have so much fun with a slow car. you can go WOT whenever you want and not get in trouble, and get into a sweet drift around corners with confidence and keep control with little effort. that is the best curvy road carver I have ever driven, so I can understand the argument of chossing a slow car to go fast in. I do hate having all this power in my SS and not being able to unleash it

I've been meaning to chime in on this post when I first read it...
First, OP, don't let your remorse get to you. Everyone has a budget and everyone should try their best to live accordingly to your budget. In today's society, it's important to live beneath one's means to ensure that prosperity is sustainable. Second, don't get caught up in the perpetual whirlpool of consumerism. Even though quality has life has increased over the past decades, consumerism has taught us to continually buy more and more. For example, the fellow posters that have also replied to your post have mentioned wanting a 1LE, ZL1, Z/28, Ferrari, etc. after their purchase. The point is that people must learn to be appreciative of what they have. In our culture, even the thought of making a new purchase invokes excitement and fun; often times, that's a bad thing. Once a person can transcend consumerism, they can truly enjoy the finer qualities of life. The best things in life are free! Plus, you can use that money saved to purchase something else... That could mean going to a couple of nice dinner with a loved one, which to me is much more important than a car which will wither away. Third, the car has 335 HP. That's plenty fast. There's no legal way you're going to be able to fully use an LT1 without getting pulled over, ticketed, arrested, or even causing a fatality, on the street. Of course, an SS can be used to great wonders at a track, but that brings up another question: how many people end up having the intent to track their cars regularly but don't do so? The LT1 is a great engine, no doubt, but the full power of the engine can only be utilized on the track. Ever heard the saying that it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow? My buddy of mine who rides motorcycles says the fun of motorcycles is in the turns, not the straights. Now bikes are another beast, but that's something to ponder about. Fourth, which ties in to my previous statement, is that being on these forums alters your perception of Camaros. By being a forum member, you're already predisposed to a majority of members having SS's as opposed to V6's or Turbo 4's. Now I'm unsure how the forum lines up with the true demographic of the real world, but sometimes you might feel envy. Your remorse could be attributed to your envy of those who are prideful of their V8's. In my opinion, I don't think being envious (of those who have nicer cars) or being prideful (of having a nicer car) are good traits. Fifth, cheaper gas (if V6), greater MPG, cheaper insurance, and cheaper maintenance: 'nuff said. OP, don't feel remorseful—be thankful. Last edited by bigdonut; 08-06-2016 at 06:38 PM. Lots of good advice in bigdonut's post. To which I can only add the suggestion that at car buying time to be more sure that the choice you're about to make is the choice you can remain happy with. Know yourself, and look off into the future a bit further than next week, next month, even out past next year. "Be sure you're right, then go ahead." . . . . (google it) Norm

A happy person isn't the one who has the most.
It's the one who needs the least... |

I personally think if you have never had a muscle car, you gotta go v8 to experience it. I've owned a 13SS and a new C7. So this time around, a 335 v6 was fine with me. 3750 miles and very satisfied.
