Not trying to pour salt in the wound but I got flamed when you first posted you ordered the car and I said "should of got the v8" I wasn't trying to be an ass, I just know way to many people who end up with regret over just a little bit of extra $

Well, unfortunately, you were right.......Besides the money, I guess I didn't think I would need all of that power and torque in a car. But, hey that's why I started this thread. For other people to VENT their pain. On the plus side, I have learned so much since then. I was a newbie just about a year ago on this forum. When it's time to order the 2SS I will know exactly what options to get including (but not limited to) the NPP exhaust and MRC suspension.

All the great track drivers on this site started with V6 cars. They handle better on the road due to less weight than their V8 counterparts.
Take the car to some autocross or road course events and learn how to drive the car while doing high speed maneuvers. When you get a feel for where the car's limits are only then will you truly be able to drive the V8 versions and know how to FULLY enjoy the extra HP. ![]() Just my .02

But I'm sure he just wants the power of the SS to turn the smile into a very big smile. OP, just don't test drive the SS until you can/able to swing the deal.. |

I have ticket remorse... hadn't been pulled over in 12+ years, I've owned my 2SS since April, and already have 2 excessive acceleration tickets...
Granted, it was because the cop (same one both times) heard the exhaust in track mode open up rather than speed, it still sucks!I don't regret getting the 2SS at all, but do kind of wish I had waited for the ZL1. I'm fortunate to be in a position where I will still order a ZL1, but it certainly would have saved me some money, and I would still be ticket free this summer!

I have no remorse on getting a V8 over my 1LT. I love it to death. I knew when I wanted to buy a Camaro I will start out with the LT and move up to a V8. Granted I could've paid the extra $100 for one, but the upkeep and maintenance afterwards would've killed me I'm sure. I am more than happy with what I have now as I prepare to upgrade to a 2SS in 3-4 years (fingers crossed)

Coming from a leased 2014 Honda Accord EX-L (nice car but just not me) to a 1LT V6, I have absolutely no regrets yet. I'm only 2 months in though. So far I just love the smile I get everyday on my commute, and the joy I get when I occasionally put the pedal to the floor. Even my two kids love the car. Fortunately my youngest is small enough to (relatively) comfortably fit in the rear seat behind my middle daughter on the rare occasions when I need to pick them up or run an errand with them.

My regrets now are the NPP and Mag ride.
I got the NPP basically for the rear valance, valves, and quad tips...I hate the sound of it when open. Magnetic ride for me is a waste, this is my DD and I drive everyday in track or competitive mode...I could have improved the stock suspension cheaper. That's all I regret on my 2SS. |

How much were the citations? I had a friend that a cop grilled one time since the friend was being rude to him. Got him for destruction of government property, excessive acceleration, and unsafe lane change.. Dummy still didn't learn after that to just be polite, Yes Sir, No Sir goes a long way sometimes! |

If I ever start focusing more on creature comforts, and saying "that's more than enough power for me" about a stock mid level offering, I'll know it's time to stop buying performance cars.

Slow Car Fast or Fast Car Slow
Quote:
This goes with the question. Would you rather drive a slow car fast or a fast car slow? I have had some fun cars to drive that were way slower than my SS but I agree you need some room if you want to drive the SS fast. But one thing this car does inspire a lot of confidence. I love that about this car. You know how it is going to react. |
