For the most part on regularly driven SS cars the upgraded rear brakes just leave a brake dust build up mess on the wheels, on the barrels of the wheels, the calipers and rotor hats and along with hints of visible rust which looks awful and negating any "looks" improvement. The rotor diameter is only .9 inches in diameter bigger. Clean wheels, clean wheel barrels, clean brake components and never any brake dust or rotor rust has its merits.

Yep, I agree with you on the dusting…and the brembos throw dust on the sides of the car as well ( drove me nuts) Ceramic coating helps a lot with cleaning, but you still have to clean way more often than the LT1 brakes. I ceramic coated the LE wheels I put on my LT1, it’s been awesome. The wheels barely get dirty anyway, a simple rinse and they’re clean as the day I put them on. Not certain about the rust part, as I didn’t have that issue with my other cars….

I will say the the upgraded Brembo’s initial bite inspires confidence. The dusting just isn’t worth it for my style of driving / patience for cleaning.

Agreed, the brakes are fine for spirited street driving.

while i can admire clean wheels and brakes, my 1LE has factory pads on it and the wheels/brakes are perfect with the exception of a couple rock chips and one scratch the tire shop put on a front wheel.

brake dust is a reach for promoting lesser brakes.

Based on everyday driving, spirited driving, high speed driving, 1/4 mile 120 mph passes, and 13000 miles on my 2021 LT1, the braking performance is very good. I have had two C7 corvettes and also have a C8 now and have a understanding and experience regarding brake performance.

1LE wheels are the same color as brake dust.

I don’t think anyone is promoting lesser brakes, certainly not me. Compromise is the name of the game, for some of us.

I can't tell from the website pic, but it does say the kit has a 315mm (12.4") rotor vs the SS 339mm (13.3).

I measured my rotor thru the rim and it's closer to the 12.4, so I'd say ya, it is the same.

13.6 on the front, 12.4 on the rear. The SS has a 13.3 rear. Lets face it though, for the most part the upgraded brake performance would only be noticed on a road course.

Brake dust is very visible no matter the color of the wheel. I fully agree on the importance and the results of high performance brake performance regarding a road course application.

The 12.4" is a factory offered "upgrade" for drag racing from GMPP.

The SS peeps install so they can get a smaller rim and more sidewall for a better bite.

It appears if you own an LT1, and you drag race, you get the $700 kit (and installation) for free.

Gotta love it, I never even considered anything other than a bare bone 10 speed auto LT1. 13000 miles and many trips down the 1/4 mile track and love it to death.

The LT1 is a great bang for the buck, and the 1LE package gives you quite a bit for the price. What's not to like with either one?

I bargained hard and walked out the door with my 1SS 1LE (new at the time) for just over $41K. I haven't regretted it.

Yep, you’re right they’re both good choices and that’s a good deal on a 1LE. Of course times are different, but I recently paid just under $40k for my LT1 (and that’s deducting almost couple grand on the GM card). So, I got a lot less for basically the same $. Ended up jumping on it back in December, as I wasn’t going without a fun car for summer. If there was a bare bones LT1 w/ an auto available, that would have been my first and most logical choice. On the other hand, if there was a 1LE sitting there for 41K, that’s another story all together.
