Looks like VW's been irritating every one of the regulatory agencies it's supposed to be working with on this.

This article has some details. Mostly, it sounds as if they're coming up with a canned solution they'll present to the regulators, and don't want the regulatory agencies involved until then. Meanwhile, their dealers and customers are just kind of left hanging.

.... This is of course if VWG does not liquidate some or all of the subsidiary holdings (Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche and Ducati to name a few).

VW is beginning to secure credit lines to cover the upcoming $80+ Billion in fines.

They just secured a $21 Billion line of credit with 13 financial institutions throughout Europe and listed/promised various divisions as collateral.

That was in Paris for the climate conference. A group of activist put fake ads like that up all around the city for a lot of different companies.

Volkswagen will now take out 20 billion euros ($21 billion at current rates) in loans to help endure the emissions scandal. The automaker will spread the debt out of over several banks, according to insiders to Reuters, and it will possibly issue bonds as soon as spring 2016 to begin paying off the bill. The lenders could charge the company a further $160 million in fees, too.
honest question, can this company actually stay in business after all of these fines? What's VW actually worth?

From what I understand, they're preparing to sell off brands if need be.

On top of that look at the sales. In November sales were down in the US by 25%, while a lot of other companies are up.

Looks like their market cap is currently about 67 billion. Back in April it was nearly double that at around 130 billion. Those market cap figures I think are in US dollars, could be Euros though.

Their stock price went on a bit of a slide over the summer, losing approximately 6% each month until late September when it plummeted after the emissions scandal hit. In mid September, stock price was in the upper $160 range. A week later, it was a little above $100/share.

My bet is that the sales drop is almost exclusively due to the stop-sale order on VW diesels.

I wonder how that will effect said brands such as Lamborghini and Bugatti.

Lamborghini really woke up when VW purchased them. And Bugatti, the majority of people had never even heard of the brand until recently.

The EB 110 was Bugatti's last vehicle before the Veyron, and it ended production in 1994. im curious if companies like Lambo and Bugatti can survive without backing from major companies like VW...I mean I guess Ferrari does it somehow.

...used to by small production, but recall that they were running out of money and forced to go public this year.
