Nothing but compliments. Except for the guy in a parking garage that left me an angry note about how I was a massive douchebag and he was going to break my windshield of my cheap, POS car. Because I parked across the line in 2 spots because the other spot was full of carpet and other things from the hotel it’s attached to. Apparently he thought he could fit his car in the 3’ of open space left in that spot. Whatever.

The Camaro is funny that way.

It looks like a million bucks, but its looks exceed the quality. That isn’t a comment about a lack of quality, but rather the gap between looks and quality. There’s that, and the fact that a lot of Camaro drivers do some odd things with their cars, the general reputation is that the Camaro is a dumb muscle car.

I get a lot of positive comments. Mostly kids in grade school, probably because of transformers. Some grown men sometimes (wish I went standard even more now).

I think the Camaro with the 5th and 6th Gen look is a significant thing. The 7th Gen will only build on the car. We won’t see the heart and soul of the look ever go away, it’s reallt something, as far as the way the car looks.

I see nothing wrong with the quality. Almost every modern vehicle has some quality issues these days given all the complex systems these days. My wife and her parents all drive Toyotas and they've had all kinds of quality issues. Our friends drive Hondas that have had some issues and other friends drive Mercedes and BMWs. Talk about quality issues, especially for the high price tags of those German vehicles.

I daily drive a RAM truck and it has been nearly flawless after 50k miles and FCA gets all kinds of grief over quality.

Rock on Chevy!

I was trying to specify that I wasn’t commenting on a lack of quality, though. I am saying that the quality does not match the looks. Like if you put a Honda Civic interior in a higher end Mercedes or BMW, the quality wouldn’t match the looks. Quality would be fine overall, but there’d be a mismatch.

I do believe the quality is lacking, though, given my experiences. Some excellent quality in many areas, but I haven’t been impressed. But that is separate from what I meant.

Well, I guess you could load up the interior with leather, fancy stitching, tons of soft touch materials, pleated seats, etc. etc., but then it wouldn't be a bargain. Considering what this car costs, quality is high in my book. Most of the $$ is in the performance and to also get leather, suede, HUD, nice lighting, touch screen, etc., in my book!

That said, should I have to deal with loose sway bar end links, some rattles, etc.? No, but I still need to remind myself that I paid $40k for and award winning, highly acclaimed performance car that looks and performs like a car costing nearly double. Again,

Sure, that’s a good perspective. I see the problems I have though, and I go “this doesn’t feel like a new car”:

- alignment had to be redone
- loose power connector on power steering had to be reconnected
- Center console needed an update, had stopped connecting
- steering wheel is wrinkling on a portion, feels bad to the touch
- rear tail light installed improperly, too tight, chipped a small bit of paint
- some odd engine noises under certain conditions
- A8 transmission is a mess until it warms up, and then once warmed up, it is still subpar, performance is what I’d expect out of the cheapest possible automatic, save for typically good redline shifts
- v4 shake, shudder, you name it
- software behaviour causes 3-1 shift thuds sometimes under turtle slow driving conditions, typically uphill, rare but a pain
- steering will pull randomly, car thinks grooves or uneven roads = pull the driver hard away from straight position
- some benign rattles that shouldn’t occur
- rear diff groan is super common (I don’t have this one thankfully)
- plastic on the auto shifter knob, dealer scratched it twice, clearly a ring on hand, just cheap plastic, could’ve used metal at least for the interior pieces that are touched regularly

A few weeks ago a guy in a GTR gave me the thumbs up. True car guys show respect where respect is due. Its the jealous dumbasses that are driving Camrys that like to talk shit and act like you are the one that made a bad choice

I get a lot of 5 year olds that say "mommy look at the cool car" as I drive through neighborhoods.
