Emissions Alert - Misfire

So my car is currently at a Detail place getting tinted, clear bra, and ceramic coated. I checked my email on the way home from work tonight and saw an onstar alert saying an issue with the emissions system has been detected.

When I got home(Place is closed and I couldn't call and check on my car) I checked onstar online and an alert said a misfire was detected, please slow down. Now I'm thinking someone is ripping on my car. So I dug around the onstar site and found the "Smart Driver" section. It's amazing what this records, btw. Anyway, it showed the car only idled for 3 minutes and distance traveled was zero today.

So I'm just wondering if this is anything to worry about, or just a fluke? Trying not to worry about it until I can call in the morning.

Onstar alerts don't get emailed for 12-48 hours after data collection, it is far from instant monitoring of your vehicle unless you use the app (with trial or paid service) for things like live location, geofencing alerts, teen driver alerts, etc.

Gotcha, but the "Smart Driver" seems to record everything a lot quicker. Here's the things I cross referenced. Looks like the car was just idling and at the most moved around the shop. Avg MPH = 1. Also note the misfire alert. Is this a big deal?

Probably best to take it in to let the dealership look at it. However if there's no check engine light, they may just say there's nothing wrong.

However it never hurts to stop by and ask.

I had my front bumper being repainted due to a problem at the dealership and they unplugged something related to the ABS somehow..? It started sending me all sorts of alerts through onstar. I called them to report it and at first they said they had to order a new module as the other one went out. Turns out, they had unhooked a harness somewhere when pulling the bumper off... Good ole dealerships...

However the issue was fixed and hasn't reoccurred.

blah blah blah. Take it in and let them take a look. It may have just been a fluke. However, better safe than sorry.

You're probably right. I should be picking it up tomorrow and will swing by the dealer after.
