Can the PDR be added to my S 1LE?

I really wanted a 1LE but it was October and my Dealer and I could only find a couple in white and I wanted Red Hot color, so I ordered a 2018 Camaro 1SS with the 1LE package.

A week or so after I placed my order I realized that I wish I had ordered the PDR. I contacted my dealer and they supposedly contacted Chevrolet but the order was in process and could not be changed. Car came just as scheduled and I took delivery on October 27th. Love the car!

My Question is: Can this Performance Data Recorder be added to my car? I would prefer it be done at a dealer so as to have warranty and hopefully not bust up my interior.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it would be cheaper and easier to just trade your car in on one with the PDR, otherwise everyone would have a PDR in their SS, and there would be a "group buy" thread for the parts kit.

I could be completely wrong though.

Contact Gene Culley... We used to add Heads up Displays on 1LT corvettes. If it can be done, he will have the parts (and at a good price!)

A go pro or a smart phone can do the same thing way cheaper. You can also buy a device to plug into the cars OB port to track the info you need. Google it.

Gen5DIY said he was working on it but that was months ago and there hasn't been any promising updates for a while. I'm guessing that 1) won't happen, or 2) difficult and expensive to retrofit.

Depending on what you want from it, there are aftermarket solutions that are better in some ways.

As of now, no it can't be added after the fact. True, there are some aftermarket solutions, but there is NO aftermarket solution that provides you with all of the data that PDR does. Some may come close, but it's not the same.

As others have already stated, probably not worth the time or money. I believe you would even need a new windshield ($800).....when I needed to replace mine Safelite showed up with a normal windshield for a Camaro equipped with HUD and ended up having to order a new one by VIN from Chevy...they said that there is an extra cutout and I believe mounting points for the PDR camera. Another thing is the integrated memory card slot under the steering wheel, guessing you don't have that either. IMO even if it's possible it would be way to much of a headache.

Absolutely agree with this ^^^. Your best bet, if you want some form of data-logging is buying an AIM camera or similar with data-logging.

As of now, NO. There is BCM programming needed from what I read that you cant get done via aftermarket.

Thanks for the replies. Not what I wanted to hear, but it is what it is. I will invastigate an aftermarket solution. Selling my 1LE would be like chopping off a leg, I like it that much.
