Stupid question, but could this mod do damage or cause any problem with warranty?? Is this foam purpose is to prevent dust or anything? Just asking, before doing the mod.

Nope. It is assumed that the foam was put in there because it dampens the odd sounds the Auto cars get in 4cylinder mode. There is no way this mod can harm the car in any way. It is literally a sound tube only sound waves travel through it no intake air is pulled from it.

Did the mod yesterday on my manual SS and I was septic at first it would make a difference, given the size of the foam removed. But it is crazy the difference it makes. A lot louder and it is also changing the tone from the inside of the car. I would say less raspy now, probably because I not only hear the exhaust now and this is something very nice. I like not having all the sound coming from the back of the car, it feels more natural now, more balanced, even if this "device" seems to be a fake sound device.

Also, by removing the foam, I did get rid of that "pffff" sound I could hear at low rmp. I was not aware that was because of the foam.

In any case thanks for this, this is very cool.

No the only thing the sound tube does is amplify the engines sound from inside the cabin when it inhales. The foam just deadens the odd sound you get on A8 cars with AFM.

Also the 2SS uses to the bose stereo to enhance the exhaust note. Bunch or artificial crap imo. I say just put louder exhaust and CAI on the cars from the factory instead of this imitation crap. Its like using Splenda in your drinks.
Are you sure the 2SS amplify the engine sound with the bose stereo system? First time I heard about that, I knew the Ford Mustang Ecoboost was doing that, I saw a video on the youtube, but first time I heard about this for the 2SS.

I know new camaro has Active Noise Cancellation system using the sub and some people has experienced issue when changing the sub-woofer for a bigger one, creating an some unbalance with the ACN. They tough the growling was was he motor sound send to the sub, when it was just the ACN going crazy. I may be wrong, but it would be very deceivign if I had any fake sound device in my car. I understand removing the foam from the tube is just allowing the induction sound to go through the firewall ans there is nothing fake with that. It is not really different than doing a muffler delete.

Yep you are correct... if you hook up a aftermarket amp with subs, you get a constant low frequency rumble unless you re-pin a connector on the amp. It messes with ANC.

The sound tube is artificial sounding. I ran it that way for a couple weeks...does not sound quite right to me. If you do not think it sounds artificial and like it, then by all means have at it.

There is no engine sound enhancement from the stereo at all. You are mistaken.

yes you are right...The Thread I read about that in the stereo section, the member mistakenly stated as engine enhancement when it's really ANC. I will edit my post...Thx

Just wanted to bring this back up. Doing some research it shows GM has 3 amplifiers for the Camaro.

1- with "sound enhancement",

2- with no " sound enhancement" or "noise cancellation"

3- with no "sound enhancement", with " noise cancellation"

Just bought a 17 2SS and am getting a cold air intake. Anyone do a sound tube delete with a cold air intake?

Removed the foam when I pulled up on the driveway from work. Yes, it took longer to get the pliers than to remove the foam. Cool sound, but the loudness might get old after a while. We'll see.

One person reported a foam stopper depth of 1 3/4 inch
One person reported a foam stopper depth of 1 1/8 inch

Clearly the depth of these foam stoppers vary in depth.

There has to be a sweet spot for the depth where it isn't
too loud nor too quiet and still covers up the AFM noise.

I can tell you the 2LT that I ordered has a significantly quieter
cabin throttle note than the white model of the same spec that
I demo'ed at the dealer.

Someone with patience needs to shave off 1/8" at a time then
stomp on the car to get a reading until the sweet spot is uncovered.
I live downtown in a city with no garage so I don't have the ability
to tinker.

I did already. Didn't seem to do much for me.
