Need some help figuring out the GPS

I bought a 2017 2LT and the GPS is driving nuts. It does not seem as
easy as my previous NavTek system.

How do I get the GPS window to be 100% map? I frequently see this
mess of stuff leaving me with only a one inch high strip of map:

This is practically useless and I want to see the whole screen turn into a
2D map. The "Zoom Out" ruler goes away after about 2 minutes but it
seems to come back every time I touch the screen. I can't see where I
am going.

This second NavTek image below would be so much better. I could see all the roads in front of me and in the general area:

Question #2.
How do I play music from the USB port? Do I just dump WAV files to a USB stick and plug it in under the arm rest?
If so, what do I press on the screen to see the songs and select them?

Thanks for the help

Page 171 of the manual:

Playing Music from a USB Device
  • Connect the USB device to the
    USB port.
  • Play will start automatically after
    the system has finished reading
    the USB device
  • If a non-readable USB device is
    connected, an error message
    displays and the system will
    switch to the previous audio
    function.

If the USB device is already connected:
. Touch AUDIO.
. Touch Source.
. Touch USB.

Currently don’t have nav, but have driven other GM cars with it. I believe you need to touch in just the right spot by that arrowhead and swipe downward.
Same way you hide the radio options. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong?

You can tap the portion of the screen where the map is and the menus should go away. But I would use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto instead.

Correct.

And to change the view style, tap the compass icon. It will cycle through 2D, 3D, and North Always Up views.
