ZL1 1LE same future value as 5th Gen Z28?

Curious about upgrading to the ZL1 1LE possibly. Wanted to get your opinion on the future value of the car, specifically will it drop as the 5th Gen Z28 did?

Not intended to imply any insult to current owners what so ever. The similarities between the ZL1 1LE and Z28 in terms of being top dog (at the time of model release) and price range are too close to ignore. Your thoughts?

It could. What nice about the ZL1 is it’s a nice driving car vs the Z28. The 1LE could be in between.

I’m thinking it will be better than the Z28, which I saw sitting around on the dealers lot left over eeven once the 6th gen came out. 1LEs are scarce and seem to be selling much better which should translate into higher resale value. Using the same engine as the ZL1 keeps the price down for the performance it offers. I wouldnt expect any mass production GM vehicle to really hold its value.

Yeah, I think you are making a really good point with the fact that the ZL1 1LE is selling much better than the Z28. Unless the new gen camaro is something even more phenomenal, the 1LE should stay within normal GM depreciation

Z/28 dropped in price because they were practically giving away the 2015s. This is not the case for ZL1 1LE. That...and on paper, it's no more than an option package. So the ZL1 1LE should follow the same depreciation trend as a regular ZL1, until the decades go by and we begin to value the rarity.

GM killed the value of the Z/28 when they began to offer 20% off new, unsold cars. Some 2014s qualified, and most 2015s. 20% off - the consumers who bought, felt they got a deal, but anyone who bought early, "lost", and the market never forgave.

New ZL1 should follow depreciation curve of supply and demand, like any other.

It seems like from watching auctions the option package cars are more valued than standard package. But since the Z/28 really didn't come with an option package it would be considered as such.

Z/28 was bare bones and GM figured out everyone wanted the bells and whistles in their track car. ZLE will hold it's value much better due to limited numbers and should fare a little better than the regular ZL1

They flooded the market with Z's when they came out, and were deep discounting six months afterward. Quite a few dealers had as many as five in stock. There are only about 70 of these in the whole country either in transit(many are sold units) or on the ground. That's how Ford is still driving the market on the R's ADM, simple control of production. Have been looking in earnest for Z/LE but 95% of dealers i have spoken with are not coming off window. Can't really blame them for wanting to hold gross-there are such few allocations they are willing to wait for the money even going in to winter.

I'm gonna say, it's a new GM product, they are all going to drop like rocks in value :P

If it’s any indication at all, we’re in year 2 of ZL1 production and they’re still selling for over sticker at my local dealers. A ZL1 1LE sold for 79K last week here. I’d never pay those prices but there are plenty who sure don’t seem to mind.

Maybe its my area, but living in the DMV I still have not not seen a new ZL1 on the road.
