I won't care if it lasted for ever. I have to at least like what it looks like.
For you folks who do not want to read the whole thread I will summarize,
My Silverado is ugly.

Haha! Not just yours. All the the current generation of 1500s. Hey at least it got your mine off the Demon for a few minutes. I do like the 2500 chevys in their current form however.

Mine is a 2500HD, tow vehicle. Serves the purpose. It will tow a big boat, maybe a ship.

I'm planning to buy a ZL1 and perhaps a ZL1 1LE. I'm not ready because the refresh is around the corner and I already have a fun car, so no huge rush. I recently drove a new ZL1 on Angeles Crest, so I know that this is the sort of handling I'm after.

So what's the problem?

I'm pretty much a fan of Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Porsche, Lambo, Tesla...all amazing tech and design efforts that appeal to people for different reasons. You've got some trolls here; folks who really just want to bash cars and pump up what they own.

Did anyone here notice the Tesla announcement? 0-60 in 1.9 seconds for the BASE car. Top speed over 250 MPH and 600 mile range. The reaction from enthusiasts is WOW! The reaction from trolls is bashing Tesla. Some goofball bashing Dodge because he's threatened by the Dodge Demon's popularity is more of the same. What's worse is that he has ZERO education beyond what he wants to believe.

Tesla is tax payer funded trash. I’ll consider the brand worthwhile when my tax dollars aren’t funding them, and they can actually develop a sustainable business model.

“LOOK!!!! OMGz!!!!! DEMON GOES 9.65!!!!”
“LOOK!!! OMGz!!! Silent go cart that isn’t even in production goes 250mph!!!!”

You and others seem willing to eat up anything these manufactures throw at you. I like the video that compares ownership of a Hellcat over time versus a Model S. Cliff notes—The Tesla still costs more despite fuel costs, and does more harm to the environment via deferred emissions.

Tesla's are crap and so is the company. They were building a new facility and couldn't pay the contractors for the work so everyone left and there sits a worthless half complete tesla building. We will mark that down as an epic failure. Good job.

That is opinion based. Obviously it looked good enough to buy for more than one person. The 2019 Ford trucks are beginning to look like Chevy trucks.

I'm always shocked at the level of ignorance so blatantly on display.

So let's start with the concept of subsidies. If you had real money in the market and understood tax law and subsidies, you'd know that Tesla gets fewer tax breaks than the big three. Peel back the layers a bit and you'd also realize that big oil gets the vast majority of those subsidies. THAT is where your tax dollars go. Tesla is a mere fraction of that.

That's why Musk made a plea this year to end ALL subsidies for Tesla and the big three. Why do you imagine this was denied, hmmm?

Big oil and the big three have spent huge amounts of money to label the Tesla as a "liberal" car and build a false agenda for it. This works great on middle Americans where education is poor. But the rest of us and the world as a whole is pretty stunned by the Tesla innovations that keep coming.

As an American who wouldn't be proud to see that Tesla, in just a few years, is building some of the best cars in the world?

As to the foolish comments about the ecological footprint, no, it's not worse than your Camaro. More importantly, this is important tech that is advancing very rapidly. It has a vastly superior development arc while ICE cars do not.

Sadly, many people can't think about anything but THEIR needs and what's happening TODAY. That's the kind of thinking that's damaging our planet. It's all about money. Even after Exxon's own research about global warming was leaked and they were forced to admit to it, denials still continue.

The Tesla may not be the future. There are other alternative fuels. But it's helping to pave the way.

In a short while we'll all be watching Demons bust the 10 second barrier, just like Hellcats busted the 11 second barrier. But that's no threat to a ZL1, because it's not designed to be a dragster.

LOL if you think the announced Tesla won't cremate our cars and exotics as well. A Tesla sedan RUNS away from my Hellcat. A purpose built Tesla sports car will be even better than Musk claims...and he knows it.

So hold onto your hats, kids. Times are changing.

Agreed...I'm an ex-old school hot rodder, now a modern hot rodder, and soon will be a future tech hot rodder.
Electric cars are murdering tracks were they show up...and their tech is in it's infancy.
Very cool though!
