MRC Question

I am confused on this topic. How do I know if my 2016 2SS has the MRC. When I go into my setting function I only have the option to change the sound of my exhaust and steering input but no suspension. I do have the driving modes. Tour, Sport, Track, snow/ice. On the purchase sheet, it says that I have the Performance Suspension. The reason I am asking this question is because I am installing new Eibach lowering springs. If I do not have MRC, then I need to install the bump stops. If I do have MRC then these pieces I do not have to install. Please educate me.

Mark

What exactly does the MRC do? I do not plan on putting her on the track.

You do not have MRC. If you did then there would be an option in your settings for suspension. The driving modes on cars without MRC only change throttle response, exhaust, and steering.

At time of purchase most think it is, except the dedicated track folks. But if it's possible to add later it would definitely be cost prohibitive. But that's me benchracing... Others will have to chime in.

In my opinion MRC is 100% worth the cost at the time of purchase! They make the Camaro ride very compliant for every day driving and highway cruising while a press of a button (icon) will turn the suspension into a track ready setup! However, I’m certain that even if you can get your car retrofit with MRC after the fact the cost to do so would make it prohibitive for most people!

I agree with you on the 100% worth it. however I'll have to disagree with you on it being retrofitted. it would essentially cost 10X more to get a care retrofitted, reprogramed (if its even possible) on a car that does not have it. Your better off trading your car in that has it.

It was a "must have" option for me. I've taken a 4,000+ mile road trip and spent a fair amount of time at NOLA Motorsports Park. In touring mode, the ride is very compliant. Setting the suspension to "Track" makes the car very track worthy.

I don't think you need MRC unless you like to go to the track (not drag). It's all subjective though. They are both very good suspension setups.

It's a GREAT system offering the best of both worlds - compliance for comfort, and stiffness for track performance...and the option to choose when you get it. I'd recommend it on any new purchase.

But if you've already got the car - it's not worth the added expense or headache to go hunting for. The standard suspension is really very good...and cheaper to repair!
