Is it the brake duct thats rubbing? Can you take a heat gun and mold it in a bit? That ducting is pretty useless on the street, I wouldnt worry about 1/2" less diameter inside.

Theoretically you can. Nobody really knows what would be the effect / warranty implication if some day you will need it. Tire Rack were not willing to reimburse me for such service in my shop . They preferred me returning the wheels and not carrying any liability for car modifications.

My only problem now is that I cannot drive my summer tires anymore this time of the year ( while waiting for replacement ). But that's a different story.
I just messaged Tire Rack about this as I had written a while ago...couldn't do it over the Winter because I needed my car (it was a bad winter here as well as across the continent). Hope they help me out as they did mbar.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but has anyone figured out the exact issue/solution for this problem. I just put on a set of 18x8 ET32 winter wheels and notice the rubbing noise when I have the steering wheel fully to one side or the other. I'm not sure how big of a deal this is, since I really only have the wheel fully to one side when pulling out of my driveway. Is this just a live with it type of situation or is this something I need to get corrected ASAP? I can't return the wheels unfortunately (bought them from someone on the forum).

UPDATE: Found out it's the plastic control arm air deflector coming in contact with the inner wheel weights. I'm guessing I'll either have to live with it or just shave down the air deflector a little bit.

I've had this issue with my recent purchase of 18x8s for Winter. I concluded the interior wheel weights were definitely hitting something. I did not know however, what they were hitting. I will start with your conclusion and see if I can confirm it. As long as it's an easily replaceable part, I think I will just trim the air deflector a bit. My other thought was to shave down the weights a bit, but I would rather not do this.

+1 , You might not want to 'live with it' , as your weight might get shaved away/fall off (happened to me)

Yeah this is happening to me with the LT’s 18” wheels I bought. Surprised it is happening since it is OEM wheels.

It seems the 18" wheels are a tight fit. Wouldn't a 19" be safer for a winter setup?

Mine were hitting as well, a Dremel with a sanding barrel solved the problem in less than 10 minutes. The deflectors were only hitting the wheel weights by maybe a 1/4 inch so I trimmed accordingly. While I'm sure there's going to be some effect I seriously doubt that a 1/4 inch of plastic on an air deflector is going to be critical in this situation.
