I am trying to figure out the value for a Chinese made AK-47. I have owned it about 10 years but I have not shot it in about 8 years and the previous owner was a collector so it has shot maybe 2 boxes of shells. It has been at my parents house since I moved out so I haven't even seen it in the past 8 years and someone is interested in buying it so I think it might be time to sell.
I have two 5 round clips and a 10 round clip. Not sure if it is pre ban or post ban and am not even sure if that matters anymore. Talked to my dad last night and he said it was still in great shape. In light of what is going on with gun sales lately I have no idea what it is worth anymore. Are there any gun dealers on the board that could give me a range value or can someone point me to a good fun forum? |

Got pics? Particularly the receiver and its markings. If its a true Chinese, ie Norinco or Polytech, in good shape with Chinese mags it could be worth 2-3 times $400. Unmolested Chinese pre-ban will fetch alot. Depends on what it is, condition, and round count.
Go to http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=4&f=78&page=1 Should be able to get a resale value. PM me if you need any help.

The one thing i remember from when i bought it was that it was not a Norinco because i couldn't afford one at the time. I bought it for about $200 10 years ago from a reputable dealer so it was a fairly cheap AK to begin with. The more I think about it the more I am sure that it is post ban. I bought it used so i think it might have been manufactured in 95 or 96. My work has started to block tons of sites and I don't have internet at home so it is making research difficult. |

Well in that case I'd probably start around $500. If your parents can look at the receiver and tell you the markings that would help quite a bit.

I'de be willing to bet it's a Maadi, Egyptian made. Not total junk but not worth much more than you paid for it. 10 years ago was in the middle of the "ban" If it was bought new, it is a no-bayonet lug gun.
Not sure why you would want to sell it but someone might give ya $400 if it's in good shape. Anyone can do well by an AK as they ALWAYS run!

Yep could be a Maadi. No bayo lug or threaded barrel\flash hider will knock the price down some. AK prices are all over the chart right now. Calmed down from the peak but still whacked.
