Maybe its me but I have seen no real gains from running a catback other then to change the exhaust tone. Which there is nothing wrong with. I believe I saw somewhere they claimed the stock catback was good for over 600hp

Cat Deletes seem to be worth 7-14whp and longtubes seem to gain 15-25whp depending if its tuned or not and 1 7/8 or 2"

They're blowing smoke. Dealers don't represent Chevrolet and if something serious happens to your engine I can confidently say they are going to tell you to kick rocks. The guy there today may be cool with it but tomorrow's may not be. It's a gamble when the time comes and by law they've got a case to deny any powertrain coverage.

To answer OP's first question - After header install and tune with CAI, I got 420/419 RWHP/TQ on the dyno. This was with an A8 transmission. I didn't have a baseline to compare to.

Keep this in your back pocket:

According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. The act states that a dealer must prove that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage.

I performed independent testing on our shop test mule back in early 2016 Great results even without a tune although codes are an issue without a custom tune.

Biggest gains are e85 and tune for fbo camaros. Headers help but mostly make noise and/or assist in making bigger mods breathe better .

headers with tune will get maybe 15 hp. But headers are better paired with bigger cam. Headers gain 25ish when going with stage 3 cam. I had 120 hp gain between the 2. well that and running e-85

2” headers worth .2 and 2mph on a bolt on car. no mystery there. 15-20rwhp but across the whole curve. So over 15 average rwhp

A good chunk of that gain is by removing the primary cats. I bet you would be lucky to see more then 10whp compared to factory shorties with primary cat delete's vs catless LTH's on a bolt-on car.

Brandon Hill picked up a tenth at that track going from Factory shorts with Cat deletes compared to catless LTH and his car was Heads/Cam/Ported MSD combo running 10.3's in the 1/4 at the time. Now with his 9.4 combo (CID heads, yuge cam, and ported Hi-ram), I bet the LTH's would show bigger gains since this combo dyno'd 750hp at the crank.

Another member had NEP cat deletes with factory headers making 620whp with a Magnuson supercharger. He swapped to LTH and picked up 19whp.

Moral of the story, you don't really see significant gains over factory headers with cat delete's until you get up over 600whp.

Yep, and as long as you don't screw up your emissions and your tuning hardware complies with the Clean Air Act, it doesn't matter if you have a tune either. They can deny you, but you can press the test and remind them of the law. Digressing though, wasn't this a header thread? Hahaha...

Pretty amazing how much time his new setup cut from the original 10.3 set up.

I agree that headers are not worth that much over cat deletes, but if you have the money to spend and want to squeeze out every bit of power out of your NA setup then they are worth it, especially if you are going past fbo later on.
Strictly comparing dollars per horsepower they are not all that impressive so people on a budget should really asses what their goals with the car are.

Cat deleted mine.. But i don't have emissions to worry about. Something others may have a problem with. I agree that my gains would not of been as significant with cats on. The only real benefit of cats, is keeps the exhaust sound from being so raspy.
