I started getting the groan around 1400miles. I changed the fluid 3 times in 200 miles. Twice with mobil 1 and transX additive, the third time with GM fluid. It is much much better now. 2500 miles and so far so good.

Car at dealer now. Going to replace rear diff fluid per S/B 09-09-20-001E. I have a 4Turbo/6 Man car. Is this just a problem with the limited slip rear diffs?

I just started to get the groan the past month, I'm just over 4k miles. I took the car in to the dealer for a few other issues (seal on A/C/firewall was missing) and they kept it in overnight last night so they could hear the groan. Only to get a call this morning saying the dash is still disassembled for the a/c leak fix and they haven't taken it for a test drive yet. Buggers. The previous time it was in for the groan they replaced the rear axel fluid and did the figure 8 thing. This time if they haven't been able to duplicate the noise, I'm taking the bulletin in and making them replace the fluid in the diff first, then the whole diff. Luckily if its not fixed after 3 service attempts the lemon laws in my state mean I can have them replace the car. Which I will do, this isn't the only problem my car has had. So disappointing.

ian351c;9486099]I get the occasional tire scrubbing coming out of my driveway. Almost feels like I have a spool! But no groaning from the diff so far.

This.

Groan was atrocious on my Camaro when I picked it up with 33k miles. Had the dealer drain and flush twice on my 2SS about 700 miles ago, the groan has not returned even after several below-freezing mornings. It's parked outside too. Hoping it stays this way..

dealer drained and drove mine a total of 2 times then drained and put fresh lube in it. Gone so far with about 300 miles so far.

I have to change my vote also. Had the fluid changed out 3 times. This time I had it in for the 3rd differential fluid change and power steering failure. Dealer called and said they are putting in a claim with GM to replace differential, they found a code for low voltage, but said they found no issue with the PS.. I've also had the car in for having a couple of valves drop/stick. They replaced the head under warranty. I have about 5K miles on it. Also had the dealer do oil change and do the oil line TSB.

Had my fluid replaced under warranty a couple of weeks ago with 8,400 miles on it. Seems like it is making the same noise for a shorter time when cold (2 or 3 turns instead of 5 -7). Less than 300 miles since fluid replacement so I will continue to monitor it.

Also, a side note since we are talking about weird noises in these cars. My 1SS A8 was making a really bad humming/groaning noise above 4500 rpm. It sounded like an oscillating noise coming from rotating parts. I thought rear end or transmission and the drive line tech at the dealer thought the same when he went for a ride with me. We also then noticed that the hydraulic serpentine belt tensioner was leaking fluid.

My car was in the shop for a week for this and the rear end groan. According to the dealer (who has been awesome so I trust what they say), they called GM tech and the LT1 has normal harmonic vibration above 4500 rpm. The vibration was causing the oscillating noise we were hearing. By running the engine at that RPM range for a few miles getting videos for the dealer and validating what I was hearing, they said that sustained time in that RPM range may have contributed to the failure of the hydraulic belt tensioner. Just an FYI to any one that may have heard a similar noise.

FWIW Mine also makes a lot of (harmonic) vibration/racket at 4500rpm and I've read about this being pretty common. I try never to hover there, just pass through that range quickly up or down. When the car was new, it didn't do it. I'd say it started around 2500 miles or so. It wouldn't surprise me if it caused issues on other components due to the vibration. It doesn't sound good and it seems like there is some resistance going on mechanically as well, but it's just a gut feel thing - I can feel it through the steering wheel, pedal and the car itself.

I got my Camaro back from the dealer, they fixed all the little bits and pieces that I was having issues with and flushed the diff 3 times. When I drove it out of the service bay, it made the groan on the first turn, but it hasn't made it since. I wondered if it was the ambient temp getting too low (it was starting to go under 40f) but lately its been in the 60's and I haven't heard a pip out of the diff. So far so good and I'm just over 6k miles now.

I threw some nice winter tires on it so it will be fun to see how it handles in the snow this winter. My last Camaro was only a v6 and occasionally it was hard to get going at lights in ice (tires would just spin too fast, even trying to pull away as slow as possible). Should be fun!

I have a 2016 V6 manual, and have heard the groan on the few cold mornings we get in Florida. Haven't been to the dealer yet, will keep you posted after I give them a chance to deal with this issue. I purchased the car with a certified warranty. It had 16,000 miles on it at the time of purchase. Don't know what the history of the car is prior to my purchase.
