2017 Camaro 2SS - silent throttle when driving
Hey ya'll. Got my 2017 Camaro 2SS (8spd auto) with the Performance NPP package.
I notice that sometimes when I'm driving (slow or fast), putting the car into Neutral and hitting the gas makes NO NOISE at all (even in Track or Sport mode). I can see the RPMs going up on the dash so it's working - just no noise. If I put it back into Drive and then neutral a few times it will eventually Roar. Guys in Mustangs constantly pull up beside and rev their engine but mine only works 50% of the time - maybe less. When I'm idle at a light, it works every time. Chevy Dealer said revving the engine in Neutral while driving down the street "confuses the computer" and the car isn't meant to do that. Seems no one else has this issue. Is the dealer correct? |

I have a 2ss with npp. Mine makes a nice loud roar in track and a quieter roar in silent evertime I rev in in neutral or park. I especially do that while going under a bridge. The rpms are close to 4000.

You shouldn't coast in neutral anyway.
1. It's a safety hazard (you've lost a part of your control over the vehicle) 2. Illegal in 15 states 3. Modern cars shut off the fuel flow, allowing the tires to run the engine when coasting. That's right, you'll get better economy by staying in-gear and coasting. I'm calling bullshit on the claim that it "confuses the computer".. that's an exception state in a computer and indicates a severe failure. Pull your NPP fuse

I believe there is a rev limiter that kicks in around 4k or so on the auto trans. You are exceeding the limit and getting nothing. Try a low slow rev vs. fast flooring the gas peddle and see.

I haven't upgrade to Corsa or Borla exhaust -- so it's still not as throaty as it could be over stock, but still sounds nice. I guess that's just how it's gonna be on my car -- maybe it should work, but maybe it shouldn't and either way -- guess it's not safe unless I'm in park. I just wondered if anyone knew for sure why it would work sometimes and other times not. I don't think it has anything to do with 4000 RPMs, given what I said earlier that I can be going through a parking lot at 5mph or less and even then still makes no noise SOMETIMES. There is no load revving in neutral. If you have stock exhaust you need to rev high.
The rev mapping in N is different. You have to step on the gas all the way to bring the rev up.

a lot of complaining, not too many answers. I just tried it in mine and it worked just fine. not too sure why yours isn't working. I would recommend that you don't do it moving though. I did notice the rpms declined extremely slow a few times which I didn't like at all. maybe try to pull the NPP fuse while in track mode and try that.
